Giant Panda Research Paper

The Giant Pandas, or simply known as the Panda Bears, are known for their distinctive appearance. Their white coat of fur with specific black markings is very unique and the same on every bear. The Panda is native to South Central China and typically live in mountain ranges (6). They are also a protected species because they are endangered. There are only about one thousand and six hundred Giant Pandas left in the entire world. Some of the processes of life are the protective body covering and the support. Just like every other mammal, the Giant Panda has an endoskeleton for it to accomplish support in its body. An endoskeleton is the skeletal structure of the animal which in turn keeps everything in the right place in the body. As for the protective body covering, the panda has a thick coat of fur. This coat of fur protects them from the cold climates that they live in. The nutrition of a panda bear is much different than any other bear. Pandas were created as carnivores, they have the teeth and digestive system for it, but they are actually primarily vegetarian. Over 99% of their diets consist of bamboo (1). The movement and response of a panda actually has a lot to do with its diet. Because of the bamboos low level of nutrients, pandas move very slowly and have a very slow response time (5).
One fact being that after giving birth, no matter how many cubs the mother has, she will only take care of one (1). This is because newborn pandas are virtually helpless (2) and require so much help just keeping them alive that the mother is physically incapable to care for more than one at a time. Another interesting fact is that pandas were created as carnivores with sharp teeth and the digestive system of one, but very rarely eat anything more than bamboo, leaves, stems, or shoots.
