Gibb’s model of reflection (1988) is one of the most frequently used theoretical reflective models in nursing. This reflective cycle integrates “feelings and emotions” which are necessary for providing holistic care. It is used to explore different and new ideas and approaches to doing or thinking about situations, in order to promote self-improvement by linking practice and theory. Gibb’s Reflective Cycle consists of six stages of reflection and follows a series of questions when reflecting on an experience, so that each step informs the next.
