On Halloween each year, my family does not go trick-or-treating. Instead, we turn off all our lights, make a couple batches of popcorn, order pizza, and sit down together in our living room to watch movies. We often watch more than one movie on this special night. Last year, we decided to watch Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters. My siblings and I had read and loved the books, written by Rick Riordan, so we thought, “How bad could it be? It would be amazing to see these incredible stories onscreen!” We were wrong. Every member of my family who had read the books agreed that this movie destroyed the intent of the original Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. We had rented the movie in hopes of being able to see the characters from the book brought to life on the screen in the same vivid way that Riordan brought them to life in the pages of his book. But instead, we were horribly disappointed. The characters and most of the basic story were there, but they were different. The goal was off, the producers seem to have attempted to stuff the entire series into two movies, and we generally felt that the films were incomplete. Gone were the fascinating scenes in which trivia about Greek mythology were woven into the…

The history of film began in 1827 when the first still photograph was taken. But, the first moving picture started with the first technological precursors of film, the pinhole camera. The pinhole camera was a simple camera without a lens and a single small aperture with a lightproof box with a small hole in one side. Light from a scene passes through this only point and projects the reversed image on the opposite side of the box. This camera, nevertheless, was followed by the more advanced camera obscura. Operating camera obscura, it was achievable to project a moving image but there was no ways of recording the image for later showing. Although, this was a long distance from motion pictures, as we know of them. The first commercial exhibition of film took place on April 14, 1894 at Edison's Kinetoscope peep-show parlor. Each frame was printed separately…
