Giraffes Figurative Language
The poem I have chosen is one filled with imagery and has figurative language. This poem talks about Giraffe's or to this passage, “Stilted creatures.” They stand tall, and feed from the tops of the trees while swaying “Like hammer-headed flowers.” Silent with “ears like leaves,” to listen to the brushing of the clouds that are closer to them.
I selected this poem because I loved the imagery of this poem. It’s like I could see these gentle finger painted tall creatures swaying softly, while feeding on the tops of the trees. As well as seeing their ears twitch against the wind or like they could hear the clouds above them. Also, just the way Sy Khan explained Giraffes through figurative language and word choice, this poem really stuck out
