She differs from Vermeer's other works. She seems generic, shy and uncomfortable wearing such an out of place, valuable pearl earring. Possibly about to speak, but forbidden. There is such interesting, soft light. The colours are gentle and compliment the irridesence of the pearl. Her skin colour is pale and blends with the soft blues and golds of her outfit. Beauty personified.
Banksy has taken this subject to a different level. I'm not certain why they call it 'ear drum”, because it's her ear lobe. That said, it's a sign of the times. ADT is the symbolic reference for the earring. An armed response …show more content…
company of the 21st century. All beauty is lost due to the current times we live in. We can't admire and appreciate, we need to be brought to the reality of present day crime. The mural was painted in Bristol in the UK and was vandalised within 24 hours of being painted. Go figure! Banksy has given no explanation of the work. It speaks for itself.
Dali's skills included sculpture, film, photography and art.
A real attention grabbing artist.
Born in Salvador in Spain 1904, I'm particularly interested in his work, 'The Persistence of Memory'. In this painting there are 4 melting/warped clocks in the desert draped over various objects. Central is an obscure nose and tongue. The pocket watch has ants walking over and the work has a photographic look to it.
This work depicts a dream like state and a tribute to the importance of time. Dali was a part of the Surrealism movement. An artistic and literary movement, liberating thought from the boundaries of the rational.
Damien Hirst is a contemporary artist born in 1965 in the UK.
In his own words, his works explore complex relationships between art, religion, science, life and death. I particularly like the installation Lullaby Spring, a steel cabinet with a backing mirror containing individually painted pills. The clinical steel cabinet against the colourful pills is a great combination. What has society become? A population dependant on pills in order to feel and cope with the reality of this world? Lullaby Spring is part of a series of the Four Seasons artworks and is actually a celebration of renewed life. Damien Hirst came from a very modest and strict background. Art was his outlet. His career defining work is The physical impossibility of death in the mind of someone living. A huge tiger shark in formaldehyde in a large tank. He does like to
shock the viewer with his avantgarde approach to art.
