Information Talk involves describing a child’s actions, objects they interact with, and the thoughts and feelings of the child. We use information talk to increase a child's understanding of language by using narration of their activities. Information Talk is effective because of making the interactions being made with the child, and also more effective when at their level.

During play time the class went on a trip through and around the church with the teachers and I. The children got ready to go on the journey, they put on their coats and grabbed their bags. Abigail said “Adventure!” when all the children were lining up by the door. I said back to Abigail, “Yes Abigail, we are all going on an adventure around the school.” By using language expansion, I turned her idea and showed it to her as a complete though.
While we were in the classroom, Veehan heard a firetruck pass by the classroom. Veehan yelled “It’s Fireman.” Mrs. Foster said the Veehan “Its the fireman in their firetruck. They are going to help the people and put out fires with their truck.” This use of language exansion plus, extended Veehan’s statement about the fireman, and added more content to his idea.
