Global Warming

INTRODUCTION

Many researchers are expressing their concerns about the issues and changes happening in the overall climate of the earth. Climate is defined as the analysis of accumulated weather data for long term patterns and trends. The Oxford Reference Dictionary defines change as, "To make or become different." Climate change is therefore defined as "long-term weather patterns and trends becoming different over an extended period of time." Climate change in the context of this paper refers to the changes that result from human activities, especially as these changes relate to the issue of global warming. If global warming is indeed happening, it is the greenhouse gas effect that is believed to be the most responsible. Today at the starting days of the 21st century, technology is the most pronouncing name all over the world. And this success of science and technology became tremendous. It becomes the key for us to ask more even though we have already achieved something. Even though the science and technology has made us rich in socioeconomic front, the world will still be going to be a big loser. Like what is happening in these present days, the achievement done reach beyond its limit and has now threatening the safety of human life. Environmental pollution is becoming a common name. Because of the technologies being developed, waste products are also increased. But, how can these problems are solved if the only way to prevent is only to recycle? In this research paper, we aim to point out the advantages and disadvantages of Global Warming. Another aim is to give more ways on how we can prevent Global Warming and save the Earth before it lasts. Due to global warming, the natural habitat of the world's friendliest bear, the Polar Bear, is slowly disappearing. It affects the growth of the seals that polar bears are used to eat. The ice they live in is also affected because it is almost fifty percent decreased from the years before. There are also examples of animals that have been forced to relocate because of the rising temperatures. Because of the effects of global warming on animals, the forest that house and feed these animals is under attack. The amount of forest fires is going up which means, the lives of the animals are in more danger. We must realize that our actions are partly to blame for the effects of global warming on the animals. If we can stop or even reduce what we are doing to the earth, we might slow things down enough that it can begin to have time to replenish itself. This study portrays that it is not yet over and we can still do something. Like the saying came from Thomas Merton, “You do not need to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is all going. What you need is to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment, and to embrace them with courage, faith and hope.” We shouldn’t just give up because everyone says negative things about it. No one knows what will happen. We should face the challenges offered and hold close to God and pray for His guidance that He will always bless us.
