Global Warming Caused by Human Activity Is Occuring

Global warming, due to human activity is not occurring.

Global warming is the increase of the average temperature of the Earth’s surface and has become a controversial and complicated issue facing scientists and politicians today. Many scientists and writers point to human activity being the main contributor to global warming. I disagree with the statement that global warming is not occurring and believe that global warming, due to human activity is actually occurring.

• Human activities have led to a large increase in heat-trapping gases such as methane, nitrous oxide, carbon, and halocarbon. These gases absorb the heat radiated from Earth’s surface and lower atmosphere while radiating most of the energy back toward the surface. The humane activities such as transportation, mining, agriculture, fossil fuel burning, and many others have increased the concentration of these gases. The result is a thick blanket in the atmosphere of these “heat trapping gases in Earth’s atmosphere, causing surface temperature to rise.” http://www.globalchange.gov/publications/reports/scientific-assessments/us-impacts/full-report/global-climate-change • Deforestation worldwide is caused by the growing demand for forest products and it is estimated that we are losing over nine million hectares per year. Trees help to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through photosynthesis but cutting down forests declines this cycle resulting in the atmosphere getting high concentrations of carbon dioxide. This higher concentration acts as a barrier resulting in higher temperatures, weather changes, ice cover, and sea levels. http://greenliving.nationalgeographic.com/deforestation-effects-global-scale-2214.html

• Emissions from air pollutants, such as sulfates act as a cooling effect as they reflect the sunlight back into space. Though sulfate forms naturally, the aerosol effect creates a cooling and warming over different parts of the world, mainly

The sun firstly releases short-wave radiation which skinks into the earth’s surface, causing it to warm the atmosphere. A long wave infrared radiation which is emitted by the earth’s surface is absorbed, and then re-emitted back into space. The climate changes occur due to the increase of greenhouse gases. The greenhouse gases then trap some of the heat and the rest escapes back into space. Essentially, the more greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere, the more heat is trapped, resulting in an increase of global climate.…

Greenhouse gases are keeping the Earth’s surface and low layers of the atmosphere warmer and the upper layers are to be colder because of the gases. 10-20% of the Earth’s natural greenhouse effect is due to carbon dioxide, methane and other gases like nitrogen and oxygen for example.…

Since the time of the Industrial Revolution, human activities have polluted the air with large amounts of greenhouses gasses. These gasses are thick covering the Earth in the atmosphere creating and trapping more heat on Earth’s surface; this is known as the greenhouse effect. While the greenhouse effect is needed to support life on Earth, a continuous buildup of these gasses becomes harmful. Greenhouses gasses come from burning fossil fuels, deforestation, industrial processes, and some agriculture practices. When the carbon dioxide is released by these activities it is trapped in the lower part of the troposphere heating the surface of the Earth thus creating global warming. The most significant greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide; it can cause the most substantial increase in temperature.…

Global warming is the gradual increase in the temperature of the earth's atmosphere and oceans, mostly caused by the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is where incoming short-wave solar radiation from the sun can pass through the earth’s atmosphere to reach the surface; some of this radiation is then reflected back into space at a longer wavelength. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere absorb some of this long wave radiation and re-radiate it back to the earth’s surface, trapping heat in our atmosphere. There have always been natural fluctuations in the earth’s temperature, for the last 2.5 million years earth has shifted between cold glacial periods, and warmer interglacial periods. We are currently in an interglacial period, where the temperatures have been warm, with very small fluctuations for the last 10,000 years. Over the last century global temperatures have increased rapidly, there was a sharp rise in temperature between 1900 and 2000 of 0.7oC. Most scientists agree that this sharp increase was caused by human activities (anthropogenic). This continued increase in temperatures could have many major impacts worldwide, both positively and negatively.…

    2. Solar radiation gets absorbed by the Earth's surface when it reaches Earth. This emits infrared radiation into the land, ice and water. Greenhouse gases warm the lower atmosphere because they re-emit infrared radiation in all directions that travels back downward warming the lower atmosphere. This has led to the phenomenon as the Greenhouse Effect.…

There is a scientific consensus that the recent rise in global temperature (global warming) is caused by human enhancement of the greenhouse effect, where greenhouse gases absorb outgoing long-wave radiation, so less is reflected back to space and is essential for keeping the planet warm. However, too much greenhouse gas in the atmosphere means too much energy is trapped and the planet warms up. One of the key findings in the IPCC report is the attribution of more than half the increase in global surface temperatures from 1951-2010 to human activities, underlining the dominant role of fossil fuel burning as a…

Earth’s atmosphere contains mostly water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane (natural greenhouse gases) which act to keep the lower layers of the atmosphere warmer than they otherwise would be without those gases. Greenhouse gases trap infrared radiation. The radiant heat energy that the Earth naturally emits to outer space in response to solar heating. Mankind’s burning of fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and this is believed to be enhancing the Earth’s natural greenhouse effect. As of 2008, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was about 40% to 45% higher than it was before the start of the industrial revolution in the 1800′s.…

The global warming subject has been a heated debate for the past few decades. Some scientists are saying this is a completely man made problem. There are two clear sides to this subject and both have evidence, but the evidence is stronger on that global warming is just Mother Nature at work. The government has poured hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars into research for manmade global warming. The theory is that humans are causing the “greenhouse effect” and putting too much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. There is clear evidence to prove otherwise and that the carbon dioxide emissions have a much smaller affect than the scientists, government, and media make you believe. Manmade global warming is not occurring. Global warming is a natural occurring process that the earth goes through over the years.…

Many chemical compounds found in the Earth’s atmosphere act as “greenhouse gases.” These gases allow sunlight to enter the atmosphere freely. When sunlight strikes the Earth’s surface, some of it is reflected back towards space as infrared radiation (heat). Greenhouse gases absorb this infrared radiation and trap the heat in the atmosphere. Over time, the amount of energy sent from the sun to the Earth’s surface should be about the same as the amount of energy radiated back into space, leaving the temperature of the Earth’s surface roughly constant. Greenhouse gases greatly affect the temperature of the Earth. Without them, Earth's surface would average about 33°C colder than the present average of 14 °C (57 °F). However, due to certain human activities, there is an increase in the amount of greenhouse gases causing the earth to “warm” but we will talk about that later.…

Through the evolution of our earth human beings have come up with so many technological advances (like transportations, use of CFS, and release of gases through factory productions just to name a few) that have bettered our society in many way, and in a sense have made life easier for mankind. However with all these new technological advances come damaging effects to the environment. Natural changes in climate result from interaction such as those between atmosphere and ocean (which is known as internal factors from external causes) (“Climate Change”). Prime examples of this are climate changes caused by human activities like heat trapping of gases, which are also known as green house gases. One of the biggest ways that people contribute to green house gases, and affect our climate is through burning fossil fuels, which is in turned used for technologies like generating electricity, heating of buildings and homes, powering factories, and fuel for our cars.…

In the past 100 years, the temperature of our Earth has increased by about 4.5 degrees (Guggenheim). This may not seem like a lot, but on a global scale, it can have a huge impact. Global Warming is a serious problem, and it should be taken very seriously. Unless we take action now, we will have major consequences to deal with later on. These include, but are certainly not limited to, extreme weather, a decline in polar life, and effects on human health. It seems like Global Warming has become such a political issue that people tend to take a side based solely on the political party they support. This needs to stop. No matter where you fall on the political spectrum, you cannot ignore the facts. The temperature of our atmosphere has been increasing at an alarming rate in recent years. Global warming is happening, and action needs to be taken to stop it, no exceptions.…

In Earth, the natural amount of green house gases give us about 33o C, so without these gases Earth would be below freezing point. The major green house gases are carbon dioxide which is causing 10-25%, while water vapor is causing about 30-70% of the effect. Methane has about 5-10% effect, and ozone which has 3-7% effect. Since the industrial Revolution, Human has increased the quantity of green house gases. According to a study in 2007, the amount of carbon dioxide and methane have increased about 148% and 36% since 1750’s. The burning of Fossil fuel has produced the maximum amount of co2 in the past 20 years, while…
