SUPPLY CHAIN SOLUTION: “GO CLEAN – GO GREEN”
The supply chain process at Kuehne and Nagel has adopted the "Go Clean - Go Green" initiative which includes joining 14 ocean carriers and 12 shippers as member of the Clean Cargo Working Group (CCWG). The carrier members measure the actual consumption of bunker fuel and subsequently apply a common methodology for calculating and providing their individual trade-lane based carbon dioxide emissions per gram/TEU/km.
The process is to incorporate these numbers in the carbon calculator and customer emission reports, which enables the shippers to obtain reliable information with respect to their sea freight supply chain's carbon footprint. The main objective is to …show more content…
Cargo 2000 (C2K) is an IATA interest group with the mission of creating and implementing quality standards for the worldwide air cargo industry. It operates as a non-profit membership group.
The members developed a system of shipment planning and performance monitoring for air cargo based on common business processes. The Master Operating Plan (MOP) describes the standard end-to-end process of transporting air cargo.
QSHE (QUALITY, SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT) MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Kuehne + Nagel has an integrated QSHE management system along with which it carries out annual audits with the aim of identifying possible weaknesses and improving operational quality. The company has developed a software that contains automated QSHE audit checklists.
This continuous control and optimisation process has delivered significant increases in customer satisfaction.
