The organization that I have chosen for this assignment is the Army Emergency Relief (AER) program. AER is the Army 's own emergency financial assistance Program. The main purpose of AER is to ensure that its service members are able to take care of themselves and their family members in the event of emergencies, educational needs, health expenses, rent/mortgage, food/utilities and funeral expenses. AER is a non-profit organization that is funded through Contributions from soldiers (active and retired) and civilians, the repayment of AER interest-free loans, investment income, and unsolicited contributions. I have…

Determine project scope and expectations are the implementation team’s first order of business. Reviewing the system goals, which were outlined in the system selection process, will give the team a better understanding of the organizations expectations with the information system (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2009, Chapter 6, System Acquisition). Meeting with senior health care executives to discuss relevant overall strategic goals and dedication to the new…
“Planning is a systematic process in which managers make decisions about future activities and the key goals that the organization will pursue. The necessity of careful environmental scanning has an immediate impact on planning processes” (Reilly, Minnick, and Baack, 2011, sec. 7.2). Making plans for future activities is one of the Army’s key functions; without planning its subordinate commands would deteriorate and lose focus on mission objectives and the quality of work. In the Army, we use the Eight-Step Training Model; for which planning always starts out backwards by starting with the objective and working its way back to day zero. The planning is then broken down into three phases; long term, short-term and near term depending on the size of the organization or unit. I find the planning phase in the Army to be very effective because it is important for employees or soldiers to know what needs to happen in the days ahead. “The design methodology provides a means of approximating complex problems that allows for meaningful action” (Grigsby, 2011, p. 30). Proper use of planning in the Army keeps the employees motivated and goal oriented. When planning in the Army goes wrong, you have Soldiers sitting around waiting on orders, people go unaccounted for, and will eventually negatively affect the other four management functions.…

The two types of data collection that will be used are surveys and Veteran focus groups. Once the data has been collected score cards sent to each administrator, managers, and individual departments will be used to display the results. The chosen methodology consistent with the goal of this quality improvement plan Six Sigma DMAIC which can be accomplished through the information technology application of data collection through the electronic health record to identify areas that need to be addressed to decrease the number of emergent/urgent walk-in visits by Veterans. Benchmarking can be used to see where the facility compares to other facilities and encourage staff to take ownership of the problem and finding ways to improve the problem.…
An evaluation plan, at a minimum should assess the following goals: 1) The program objective in measurable terms, 2) Key indicators of success, 3) Outline data collection and analysis activities and 4) A timeline to monitor the success of the program on an ongoing basis (Johnson & Crean, 2008, p. 3). When an organization assesses these minimum components, it will permit them to focus on what's important - improving services for clients, and provide accountability updates to customers, and inform key stakeholder of the organization progress, they will be successful in completing their outcomes.…
Evaluation can be used as a research tool to improve administrative decision making, improve currently operating programs, provide for accountability, build increased support for effective programs, and add to the knowledge base of the human services. Evaluation can provide information about activities being carried out by the agency and its programs, and the effects of these activities on clients. If the data provides a contrast between current operations with objectives, it can serve as a tool to improve program quality. Evaluation can serve as a tool to improve program quality if it provides data that help contrast current operations or conditions with objectives ( Judith A. Lewis, Thomas Packard, & Michael D. Lewis, 2006 ). Program planners need to be able to make judgments concerning the effects of specific services. The purpose of evaluation is to help improve the ways agencies serve individuals and communities. The Greenby Community Mental Health Center is facing the cutback of the Consultation and Education departments. Although consultation and education departments are required for all community medical centers, they do not have to be fully staffed. They can instead implement consultation and education as a percentage of each professional 's work. The Executive Director insists that funding needs to be given to the programs that bring in revenue. Although consultation and education 's workshops have attracted many from the community who would not be there otherwise, the revenue is shown for other programs not education and consultation. The Executive Director needs something on paper to take to the Board of Directors showing that these departments are needed and should remain fully staffed as is. A process evaluation measure and an outcome evaluation measure is needed to display the programs ' effectiveness. The scope and purpose of each need to reflect how they influence design. Specific issues and challenges may arise from the…

The organization that I work for has an excellent Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, not many hospices have a fully functioning program. However, one particular issue needs improved upon, the data collection process now being employed. The company they are using at this time, Deyta, does not seem to be very effective. The manner in which they collect the data using surveys regarding hospice care, appears to be somewhat ineffective in that most people who receive this survey discard it without looking at it and therefore this impacts are ability to improve upon our services with a larger workforce.…
