“Jobs outsourcing is when U.S. companies hire foreign workers instead of Americans” (The Balance). Outsourcing jobs to foreign workers for lower pay is very common throughout the United States. However, outsourcing has been seen as unethical; it creates less jobs for Americans and there are very poor working conditions for these foreign workers. In the case of Carly LeBlanc and her decision on whether to buy locally or outsource and buy from foreign companies, LeBlanc should buy the T-shirts locally. This will create more appealing shirts, attract more customers, and expand the awareness of the company. She should order the shirts from the local company in the U.S. because the shirts will be higher quality, they will appeal to the students, and the company would not be identified as one that takes advantage of outsourcing rather than supporting a U.S. company during the global recession. It will be better for her to buy in the U. S. because “foreign labor standards allow unsafe worker conditions in many countries. When you buy American you support not only American manufacturers but also American workers, safe working conditions, and child labor laws” (Lipscomb). Many people might be upset when they find out that the T-shirts they are wearing were made in unsafe worker condition, and that could create a bad image for the company.
