Let's go green and save the earth - sounds like a tall order, doesn't it? If you think about it though, governments and citizens alike are all working together towards the goal of becoming greener.
There are many ways that we can work on our initiative "Let's go green and save the earth". Here are a few you can do personally, as a citizen of planet Earth:
• Upgrade the windows in your home to more efficient ones that help to retain the heat you create with electricity;
• Switch to Energy Star certified appliances if your appliances are older - you may qualify for a rebate;
• Hang your clothes to dry in the summertime instead of using a clothes dryer;
• Have shorter showers and use a timer on your hot water tank so that the water is only heated during certain periods during the day when you need it;
• Change over all of your light bulbs to more energy efficient ones;
• If your car is an older one, consider upgrading to a more fuel efficient car, it will save you a lot of money in the long run;
• Consider switching your electrical consumption to more green sources, such as solar panels and wind turbines, if possible. You can slowly install one or two solar panels as you can afford to, and if you end up getting yourself off of the electrical grid, you will have no more electrical bills to pay. Aside from that, many local governments offer incentives to people to use greener sources of energy.
As we all adopt the mind set "let's go green and save the earth", we can all do our part, each day, to conserve the resources on our planet. Working towards using more solar powered products and producing less waste are two of the biggest ways that we can save our planet for future generations.
