Upon the management’s request, I have been appointed as an analyst to express my opinion on the effects of proposed tax on sodas on its business and consumers. The supermarket chain is currently a monopoly and is comprised of seven stores altogether. The businesses have ample capacity and are currently charging the optimal price, quantity, and thus earning maximized revenue. However, the government is now considering a proposal to impose a 1% tax on soda sold in the supermarket chain. I have analyzed the effect of this 1% “fat” tax on consumers and its supermarkets. To better serve the management and help decide which tax schemes are better, I have included my analysis on this report. The information includes: current revenue maximizing price, output, and maximizing revenue; the effects on management and consumers’ satisfaction; and the alternative way for the supermarket chain to produce the same amount of tax revenues. I wish the management will consider all aspects and effects of the two tax schemes and carefully determine which scheme will benefit the consumers, supermarket chain, and government.…

The previous thing told about there being less children in the world, and less children mean less people. Less people means less resources needed to keep the people comfortable. Of course, less people is not enough, you also educate the poorer on using less. Educating the poor actually has little effect, though. What's more important is educating the wealthy (relative to the rest of the world) on the dangers of pollution. (Source Here) Go with the same approach we currently take with wars, show what happens when something goes wrong, and why it's bad. It doesn't even have to be a topic like global warming, tell them if they like stepping in trash, then tell them ¨Oi! Don't litter! Ist nicht gut für deine Gesundheit¨. Heck, you can use this approach to all sorts of topics, but that's not what I’m talkin about for…

    My Green Manifesto

In the educational book, My Green Manifesto: Down the Charles River in Pursuit of a New Environmentalism, David Gessner goes into depth describing Dan Driscoll’s journey down the Charles River. His adventure speaks out to the readers by influencing others to get outside more so that one can appreciate the nature that is given to us on this planet. Gessner believes that if people get outside more they will soon start to understand how important this “wilderness” is and that it needs to be taken care of and loved. What many people don’t realize is that most of the communities that are lived in today aren’t considered wilderness. There may be parks or forests near-by but not wilderness; unless your living completely off the land in the Appalachians, Rockies, or somewhere where humans have not yet occupied as a community then it is not wilderness. As they journey down the river they encounter vast areas of wilderness and as they continue they see, what use to be wilderness, is now buildings in the heart of Boston where a lot has changed. He also decries the methods of many current environmental organizations, arguing that no disembodied environmentalism that “so often sounds like nagging” is likely be fully effective. He believes that to “fight joyously for what’s good in the world,” as his friend Dan has done for the Charles, is the key to protecting even the most trammeled wildness. This is why the main aspect taken out of this book is to find a new environmentalism.…

Developing an eco-friendly stadium or arena appears to be at the forefront of almost every professional sports organization. I believe in the initial design/planning phases architects and facility planners must take notice in the direction which the sun sets and rises. One area of concern is the purpose of constructing the stadium and what is it’s intended use and for how long (Ammon, et. 2010) Also, if the organization is located in an extremely humid environment, I would most likely construct a stadium with a retractable roof which would allow for the players and spectators some comfort from the outside heat. As Ammon has mentioned in chapter one, security measures must be implemented in the initial design process (Ammon, et. 2010). If a spectator feels that their safety is in jeopardy they will most likely avoid such large events. For safety considerations, I would install bollards that would prevent vehicles from approaching the facility within 150 yards.…

Everyday we hear about environmental degradation, ecological imbalance, global warming etc and related grave issues which pose a threat to our very existence. The world today is playing a blame–game trying to accuse each other for these problems. But what is the point in holding international conferences when nothing is being done at the ground level?? It is us who have to make a difference. “WE ARE APART OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND NOT A PART FROM IT.”…

Malaysian must put a ‘price’ on carbon, set regulations and pour money into research and development and let Malaysian ingenuity meet the market force for clean energy. This strategy would not only help the world avoid the worst of climate change, it will end our dependence on hostile foreign regimes that we rely for oil. Everything that we would actually do in response to climate change would make us healthier as a country, stronger, more innovative, and more energy secure. This is not just generating power in the sense of light; this is about generating a power period.…

“Let’s talk green” is a new campaign that has been brought up into the student council by the new executive community in the student body. It is an idea of a new tradition being brought up for the student body, not only is it to emphasize on the importance of eco-friendliness but to remind people that we are endangered by rapid global warming. Like our famous MDIS Integrated hostel, which was awarded with the Green Mark Gold Plus Award, we want to be able to make a difference not only in school but to create a new habit for student culture.…

I chose an article called Greening of the Red-Bag Waste Stream by Jack McGurk. This is an article related to my field of nursing. It discusses a guide created to reduce medical waste in hospitals in California. Hospitals that got involved in this project agreed to document their findings. They designed a team called “waste busters” to assign responsibilities to, to designate their mission. During this time, they are weighing their red bagged medical waste to measure. Trying to reduce this waste saves the hospital money, also reduces waste in the environment. To have red bagged waste disposed of costs around 19 times as much as disposing of regular trash. There are six main strategies they came up with to reduce waste, and a plan to try and reach their goal for each strategy. This article did not state the outcome of the project, just the strategies involved.…
