Personal Goal Essay
Some say it is my dream to be this and to be that. I don’t know about you, but I only dream when I’m sleep. Dreaming to me is like making a wish and waiting for it to happen. But, setting goals is taking the steps to meet your main goal and getting where you want to be in life. My steps are to finish my base classes in college, join the Air Force, and to retire from the force and provide for my siblings.
I graduated from Morgan County High School in 2012. After graduation I took my first step towards my future and attended school at Georgia Perimeter College (GPC). Ever since high school I was always known to give up on myself and just quit. No matter what you are going through, you just have to pick your head up and push forward. In my case I just have to be willing to do the work. I went to GPC for two semesters but I didn’t really like it so I started fresh and transferred to Georgia Military College (GMC). I am here at GMC to finish my base classes and I’m willing to do what it takes to get all of done, so I can really start working towards my life career. Once I’m done with my base classes, when I get in the Air Force I can just start on my hands-on classes. Yes there are other military forces to serve, but I’m just focused on one.
There’s the Marines, the Navy, the Army, and then there’s the Air Force. Air Force is where “Your Idea Could Change Everything.” Once I take the asvab and pass it, I’m ready to get my career started. My cousin John inspired me to go into the force as well. Just seeing how he lives now is an amazing thing to see. I’ll serve my first four years and hopefully I enjoy working in the force so I might just stay in the Air Force a little longer. In the Air Force I can start school again, but instead of me paying out of pocket they will pay for me to go school. So, I’m looking forward to traveling across the world, meeting new people, and most importantly

Being in JROTC has given me structure and I am grateful for it. It has taught me qualities I will find immensely useful down the road when I graduate high school and go off to Alaska Pacific University, followed by Officer Candidate School, and finally the United States Navy. With JROTC experience under my belt, I will be pursuing this with confidence in not only myself but the choice I have made to go about such a route.…

All my life I have wanted to be affiliated in the military. Four to five years ago I had very low self confidence in myself and others and not very great aspirations. My plan was to enroll in the marines after high school and attain my college education from the military. My primary aspiration for my life was to exceed the achievements of my mother, who didn't graduate high school. I wanted to be able to say if I could do it why couldn't you? My mind and heart were consumed by the dreadful thought of my brothers and how they would never have the opportunities that I have been blessed with. It wasn't until I had opened up to my uncle Derek who is a marine that I had a change of…

The Armed Forces is something my family is quite familiar with and has been an influential part of my life as a structure of leadership. My dad has told me a multitude of things he has experienced while in the Army and the opportunities given at hand when he was enlisted. I have also heard praises from many family members and family friends to the loved ones that have taken another step ahead by enrolling into college, and enhancing their leadership skills to become well renowned officers of the military. I will be taking this same road of success, but pushing it another level by applying for the NROTC, which will train my mind and body to guide others when I am commissioned into the Marine Corps.…

My initial interest in the Air Force Academy was sparked when I accompanied my parents to a Military Child Education Coalition conference in the summer of 2004. My father and I, not involved in the conference, decided to spend the week exploring the Colorado Springs area, and after touring for several days, decided to go to what my father called "Zoomie U". We took the typical summer tourist tour, but I was enthralled. The chapel, the mountains, and the campus excited me, despite my youth. I spent the rest of the vacation asking questions on how to go to the Academy, what I could do in the Air Force, and a slew of other inquiries. Years later, as a high school junior, I visited again, and made firm my earlier decision: I must apply. Since I first entertained the idea of going to the Air Force Academy, I have considered several fields, namely; pilot, navigator, air battle manager, intelligence, and even technical fields such as meteorology and engineering. There honestly is no particular field which calls me; any career in the Air Force is worth having. The education received from a top-rate school such as the Air Force Academy would assist in all of the above aspirations, from the social networking achieved from the Academy cadets to the loyalty forged in enduring the same system. Also, from what I have learned from Academy alumni, I will value most the combination of education, military training, sports, and sleep. The lesson of time management is taught to ensure that all Air Force officers know its importance in the military, and there is no better classroom for that lesson than a military academy.…

A dream is impossible to accomplish when there is no plan in place to achieve them. Setting goals can be beneficial in getting one step closer to achieving dreams and aspirations. For example, it’s like watching a flower grow. When you grow a flower you need the container to put the flower in. Prepare and sterilize the container. Next add the soil in and then plant the seed. Water the plant, make sure the plant gets as much sunlight needed for it to survive. Slowly but surely with the proper plan and care your flower starts to bloom. Goal setting is the container, it’s the base to what you want to achieve in life. Sterilize your container, is just like writing down those dreams. Place the soil in, add water to your ideas, and actually take the time to bring sunlight and action in accomplishing your dreams. Students should create goals because; making progress in something helps motivate yourself in believing that you can achieve your dreams. Otherwise your dreams and aspirations are nothing more than vague ideas moving around in your…

There are many types of goals. Growing up, I always dreamed of being two things: a mother and a nurse. I am blessed to have two wonderful children ages 14 and 16 and have had the privilege of being able to be a stay-at-home mom during their younger years. Now that they are older and a bit more independent, I have decided to go back to school and fulfill my goal of earning my degree in Nursing. Throughout the years of growing and maturing, I have learned how important it is to have good morals, values, goals, a passion for something, and a good education. I have not only taught my children the importance of these characteristics, but I have also shown them that regardless of one’s age or stage in life, that…

I was in the wrong crowd, per say, and that did not help at all. My parents, desperate to help me, thought that a military academy would be a good path to take. So they reached out to Culver Academy. Obviously, at first the idea of a military academy, fleshed out with their spiffy uniforms and structured lifestyles horrified me. My parents forced me to visit the campus and see what it had to offer. Immediately, the flower was no longer dried up, but being refreshed with cool water. I fell in love with the campus, knowing immediately that I desired to go. Cut forward a week from there, and my long process began. In school, I was an above average student, but I quested to go beyond that in order to receive acceptance to Culver. I started with volunteer opportunities, volunteering to be an assistant coach at my boxing gym, and working in community service projects around my home. I worked many nights at a Riley Children’s Hospital, serving homemade food to families with children there. I applied myself more to schoolwork, raising my B average to A’s, improving my resume. But that was only the practical stuff, I had a much bigger demon to tackle down in order to make it to my…

When I first joined the Armed Forces, I never imagined that I would make it a life-long career. My initial intention was to complete 4 years of service and transition to a full time student. Little did I know, my experiences in the United States Air Force would lead to a drastic change in my plans. The first time I experienced a true sense of job satisfaction was at the Defense Language Institute (DLI). Shortly after arriving, I joined the DLI base honor guard. 6 months of practice and dedication led to my advancement as lead where I was given the opportunity to build teams and make decisions as an Air Force leader for the first time. It was in this position that I developed a sense of pride that I had never felt before. From that point forward,…
