God's Calling
How I understand calling is how a person is going to fill out God’s plan and purpose for their life, ultimately, where wherever God is leading them and what they will be doing for God. I believe God can lead people who are not believers to do something they are called to do unconsciously before knowing God. Then when this unbeliever becomes a follower of Christ they continue to fill out this purpose God has for them with godly intentions realizing God has a purpose for their life.
Avoiding a call from God is something I believe happens more often than not. Why? Because people have free will and choose to believe in other things, gods, etc. and want to choose their own way of living apart from God. Also, I believe a lot of people are living out their callings, but do not believe in Christ where they then cannot live out their full callings because living out your full calling requires to put your trust in God.
From my perspective, I think that a person has a general specific calling from God, but within that calling, God calls us to do so many things. God calls us to love our neighbor, to follow his commandments, to serve one another, to do so many things. So, yes, I would say that one person does have many callings, because God calls us to do so many things all the time.
Calling is God’s way of fulfilling out our destiny to carry out his plan and by doing so we are serving him, which for me is the ultimate

A great chasm exists that separates unbelievers from believers1. An example of this chasm is presented in the Gospel of Luke, “And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom.”2 The chasm is presented in the “afar off” statement. This chasm, as pointed out by David Wheeler and Richard Leach, is what makes evangelism necessary. Essentially, every Christian is to seek a way to bridge these chasms bringing the unbeliever face-to-face with their Creator3. In order to perform this great task, and the task was as great in the Apostles’ day as today, “Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest”4 the Christian servant today must rely on the Lord in every aspect and seek out opportunities to present Christ to those around him. Seeing then that there is such great work ahead, and the laborers have been assigned their task, “For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him”5, the only success to be found is through sharing the faith by the Word of God through the Spirit…

For this project, I am placing myself in a hypothetical context as a staff pastoral counselor at my home church in Valley City, ND, serving a congregation of approximately 200. I have chosen as my overarching goal for life to serve others in the capacity for which the Lord has gifted me and prepared me to counsel and minister to them. 1 Peter 4:9 tells us that, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” I believe that serving in a counseling role is my gift, and that it is my calling to use that gift to serve others, and in doing so, to obey God.…

CHRIST’S MISSION? “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners;” (1 Timothy 1:15) “For He [God the Father] hath made Him [His only Son, Jesus Christ] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2 Corinthians 5:21) Jesus said, “The thief [the Devil] cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have [everlasting] life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)…

In my service to God I am motivated to use the life God has given me to do something meaningful and purposeful, not to just take the easy way out and coast to through life barely getting by. Over time my service to God has increased enormously, my commitment went from just going to be there to looking forward to it and leading the charge at some points. I became more involved in church activities, going on mission trips or volunteering with Vacation Bible School for grades pre-kindergarten to sixth grade. It became more interesting and strengthened my ethics as I was able to understand it as I got older. I learned discipline and dedication to faith and my congregation. These beliefs help me get through the harder times in my life.…

For God to have a place in anyone's life they must first want him. This desire must be sincere, and it requires adherence to God’s requirements on the individual for him to do his work. For God, there is clear cut activity that must take place on the side of the person. In Psalm 51, the writer is seeking God’s presence. More than that he seeks redemption from his transgressions against God. He understands that he did wrong. There is knowledge on his part for recognizing what he did wrong. He knows what to do to make it right between he and the Lord. It’s the work that he has to do to reattain the Lord’s presence that makes him cry out. There is a brokenness in him, and a contrite spirit that understands he has a lot of work to do in…
