The God of Carnage
On October 1st I attended The God of Carnage at the Gladys G. Davis theatre.
Personally, I think the acting of all of the actors was strong. It was a believable and enjoyable performance all around. Some of the parts where the actors were yelling seemed to need a little bit of work. Besides the parts where there is loud yelling the acting was great, and I think that it was great performance.
I think that the way the stage was laid out made it feel more real. It was a thrust stage, which made for a different experience depending on where you were sitting. I was sitting to the right side of the stage. The set-up of furniture and props on the stage was very good and seemed natural. The flow of what you saw on the stage was easy to follow. For example, when Michael goes to get the alcohol you could easily see him do it while still paying attention to what else is going on on-stage.
The script seemed very well written. Everything that happened dialogue wise worked very well toward contributing to the next line spoken. There was no confusion at all in the speaking, and it was easy to tell what they were trying to convey when they spoke. The inflections they used with their voice helped contribute toward making the lines and the acting more comprehensible, but I feel that the quality of the script also had something to do with the quality of the acting.

The movie was great because how they acted their roles were exceptional. Honestly, the roles given to them are really hard because they will handle all the emotional and physical challenges of their roles. You really need a good actors to be able to act it out, and so they did. It was so moving, since you are able to see hopeless people who as much as possible keep their selves positive and enthusiastic in life. It is directed by Penny Marshall, the film was produced by…

The producers couldn’t have hired better actors for the roles of Thomas and Victor and the script was as if it wasn’t even a script. It seemed like it just came so naturally to the characters. If someone came to me asking for examples of a movie with really good acting, I would probably recommend this movie, but otherwise. I would say not to waste your time and watch something more enjoyable, like the romantic comedy “The Wedding…

Regardless of what the plot was intended to be, it is difficult to not be distracted from the message in the film by the poor acting. The lines are not particularly good that the actors are given for their characters, but they are spoken in such a way that the viewer is not as aware of what they are saying, but in the strange manner they are…

No doubt that the content is the most important thing, so how can it be a good performance when the actors failed to deliver their only task? Which was to make the audience believe, believe in what they are saying is true. Many actors failed in delivering their feelings or the feelings of the character they were acting as for the matter. When scenes call for sadness or even a hint of tear, actors would give a sad-mocking expression like someone would in front of their mother to frame their brother whom did not do anything. Not the feeling of a lost of a friend that was known to everyone, that was seen by everyone, growing up or played with. And in addition although the impression of the southern accent was a good attempt, many actors did it and many did not, when they were native of the land. Instead of letting the audience feeling empathy and recognition actors gave the audience an agony of confusion, lost and at some point even bored throughout the…

I really enjoyed how minimalist the set was for this show because while the overall setting of the South was important, the interaction of the characters was made the focal point of the show. It was a good choice because it reinforced the theme of getting to know someone else’s side of the story that the play showcased. It also help aid the fact that the play was told in a flashback, and that all the events had already occurred. It was a good style choice for this…
