In the movie The Godfather, Consigliere Tom Hagan captured the essence of my legal practice: “I have a special practice. I handle one client.” Basically, I run a small law firm of government attorneys that represent a single state-agency client. Specifically, I supervise a division of the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office that represents the State’s Department of Health and Human Resources in state and federal court and administrative tribunals. With five bureaus and over 5,000 employees, the Department is West Virginia’s largest state agency. And because it serves a vulnerable population, provides a broad number of social services, and annually receives billions of federal dollars, the Department frequently confronts complex and potentially very expensive legal issues. It is my job to see that those issues are resolved. In this position, I routinely interact with the Department’s cabinet secretary and her senior staff, as well as members of the Governor’s office. I also play a central role in the decision-making…

In the eyes of Suzanne Wong, Vito Corleone is a man who deserves to be admired. He is a man who does well and expects nothing less in return. In Wong’s essay, she constantly brings up the deeds he does for everyone. Her reasons about why Don Vito Corleone is such a great role model were very well explained and detailed. She builds up Vito’s character so others can view him as a god like figure, hence why his nickname is The Godfather. I do agree with her on some topics, but at the same time I disagree. I agree with Wong when she says friendships are important, and Vito really showed how important it was. In addition, I agree with her argument about traditional values. What I don’t necessarily agree with is what she said about success and how the Don achieved it by himself. So therefore I mainly agree with Wong but at the same time I disagree just a little. I agree with Corleone being a good role model because he values friendship and traditional values but I don’t agree that he is because his success all resulted from violence.…

In today’s society, illness can cause people to separate from the everyday routine. Sickness has always been a reason for someone to stay at home, resting, instead of continuing to worsen their health or risk the health of others. Throughout the novel, Victor Frankenstein, the protagonist of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, falls ill after every traumatic event in the novel. He falls ill after creating the Monster, after Clerval’s murder, and for a short time after Elizabeth’s murder. The author alluded to Victor as playing God in some way for his attempt to create a Monster. He gave another organism or Monster for this matter, “life”. However, Frankenstein’s illness keeps him titled to still being a mortal; someone who is not above the rest. In a sense, falling ill appeared to act as Victor's coping mechanism.…
