Many people know about most of the gods and goddesses in Greek mythology. In fact, they know almost all of them, going as far back in the family tree until they reach the Titans. However, something many people do not know is that there were gods and goddesses before the Titans, according to Greek mythology. One of the primary examples of these primordial gods is Gaia, the Greek Mother…
Ancient Greece was a civilization that set many precedents. One of the most notable earmarks of Ancient Greece is It’s mythology. Though not the only polytheistic culture, Greece is one of the most prominently thought of cultures when referring to Gods and Goddesses. The deities of ancient Greece held a huge sphere of influence in their culture. The Gods and Goddesses affected many aspects of everyday life. These myths became their religious and spiritual foundations. “In ancient Greece, a myth was not simply a story, or a tale, rich in religious and poetic meanings, but rather a body of scientific knowledge about the world and a normative conception of human beings” (Javier Lopez Frias, Isadora,Hadjistephanou Papaellina).…

Aphrodite is the goddess of beauty, her complexion and overall grace is beyond any mortal's. Her beauty makes her easily recognizable, it is clear that she is not a mortal, but a goddess. At first glance, you can tell that the mortal, Anchises is infatuated with Aphrodite, “Anchises saw her and he marvelled at her, he was astonished by her form, and size, and by…
A new dynamic is explored in the relationships between gods and demigods. The Greek Gods are seen as careless quest-givers most of the time, giving demigods and heroes missions and tasks. A lot of these missions and tasks are dangerous and could end up killing the person who receives the job. Gods are able to do this because, they are beings of infinite power. Now one of the Gods, Apollo, one of the most vain and self-confident god, is punished by his father and depowered to a normal human. He doesn’t have all his powers and divinity, he’s vulnerable, and he’s no longer the great Apollo. With this, Apollo sees the entire world in a new set of eyes. The author is able to put Apollo is situations where he can’t rely on demigods to do his bidding…

Mythology is widespread and basically covers a ton of our history if not most of it. It ranges from sirens to goddesses and centaurs to gods. I concentrated on the gods and goddesses of greek, and norse mythology. My argument is that the goddesses of each culture are treated unfairly. How the gods are allowed to have affairs and the goddesses aren't. How they are seen as trophies and how their emotions are manipulated to fit the gods needs. Most of the goddesses stayed faithful to their husbands and never thought of having affairs but it didn't matter. The gods would have affairs after affairs and not get punished for it. If the goddesses were to have affairs they and their lovers would get punished for it…
When we try to make some sense out of the many Egyptian gods and goddesses, we must keep two important facts in mind. First, early in Egyptian history lower (north) and upper (south) Egypt were unified under one ruler. This union resulted in the merging of several cultural traditions. Second, because ancient Egyptian civilization existed for more than three thousand years, the deities and myths gradually changed over time as a result of new ideas, contact with other peoples, and changing cultural values.…
The myths of the ancient Greeks are considered to be some of the greatest literary achievements of western culture. These tales allow us to look into the greatest minds of the ancient world. Myths help us comprehend what Greek society was truly like, by allowing us to understand the principles upon which it was built. The behavior of the Goddesses show far more levels of independence than that of their mortal sisters. The Goddesses because of their certain powers or their lineage in the case of Athena being blood of Zeus allows for a hierarchal system. This system contradicts that of the representation of mortal women in the Iliad especially that of ownership or slavery. Though Zeus is the most powerful god he can still be manipulated by a woman. The other male gods can be manipulated or controlled by Hera because of her power and influence. The number one god might be a man but the organization below Zeus is a mixed alliance of numerous troublesome gods and goddesses. The female goddesses consist of Aphrodite, Hera, Athena, and Achilles' mother Thetis are the most influential women portrayed in the Iliad. Thetis provided Zeus's support of the Achaeans for her whiney son Achilles and also new armor after Patroclus's death. Even a goddess is subservient to men allowing for her to approach Zeus on the behalf Achilles and provide armor. The Goddesses differ extremely from the other women portrayed in Troy and Achaean…
Long ago there lived Greek Gods and Goddesses. There is a myth that says the Gods lived atop Mount Olympus. They were ruled by the king of the Gods, Zeus. Zeus had brothers, sisters and even children that were also gods with their own powers. Zeus also had a wife, Hera. She was the protector of marriage, families, children, and the home. Apollo is the god of sun, truth, intelligence, music, and poetry. Athena is the goddess of wisdom. Aphrodite is the goddess of love and beauty. Last but not least, Artemis the goddess of wildlife and hunting.…

After overthrowing their ancestors, the Titans, the Olympian gods became the rulers of the World (Cosmos), representing the civilization of the world. The beautiful goddess of sweets, Despina, was the daughter of Hera and Zeus. Despina was born straight out of Hera’s head and the couple was more than happy to welcome her into the world. After she was born, at age one, Hera and Zeus sent her away for a year to a school called Unique Kingdom located in Creative Island. At the school, there were many gods and goddesses that owned their own shops selling many varieties of food for students afterschool. Despina couldn’t help but feel left out because she had thought that she was the only one that was mortal in Unique Kingdom. She was young at the time and had no clue that she had a special ability to make candies, cakes, ice cream, and cookies appear anytime she snapped her fingers. But, because she was known as the only mortal, she was often alone and she never seemed like she wanted to talk to anyone. As Despina began to grow older though, her powers started to develop slowly.…
