One of the reasons people choose to skip getting a degree is the affordability of higher education. In 2005, the cost of annual tuition was $17,233. Hence, some of them decide to travel to find themselves. Reasoning that going to college will mean being dependent on their parents for another four years, high school graduates choose to get a job and win their freedom.
College is not necessary anymore to ameliorate their life. Years before, there were not as many people with a degree. Today is considered a normal pathway in life and is common to have one. As a result, companies do not hire you given your education, and they find other things such as experience, maturity, purpose and self dedication better. Some data show high school graduate have the same or greater wage than college graduates, so students might choose to work instead. “You wasted $150,000 on an education you coulda got for a buck fifty in late charges at the public library.” As good old Will Hunting, and now especially with the internet, there are a million of websites out there to get the information. As a consequence, some teenagers will decide to educate themselves instead of enrolling in a college course.
Even though you cannot get a job in careers from medicine, engineering, science without a particular degree, people are choosing not to go to college because of the cost, their uncertainty of their career path and since there are other alternatives out
