Staggering movie times would mean less wait in the concession, people don’t like to wait and if you have 4 movies showing at the same time with 60 people at each showing, and if 25% of the people want concession foods, that could be 80 people waiting in line for a movie that starts in 10 min. It is less hassle for the movie theaters to stagger times for their concessions rather than all at the same time. A Mulitscreen theater showing helps the mall revenue. The malls always have a food court which while you are waiting or go window shopping could lead into people buying goods from the mall when they only wanted to go to the…
2. I can’t believe I’m waiting in this long line just to buy movie tickets. By the time I get to the front, I’m sure the movie will be sold out; I should have just rented a movie at home.…
Tons of people go to the movies every single day. Sometimes they just want to go to escape the real world. Everyone has their own preference of the kind of movies they like to watch. I have been enjoying going to the movies for over 20 and have never stopped loving the experience. I even remember the name of my first movie “The Land Before Time.” It was about a baby dinosaur that had lost his mother and had to make a great journey to the Great Valley to find his grandparents. In the end he does find them, after a great adventure with friends. I have always love movies that have a happy ending and also a little adventure. Another story that I read that had a happy ending was an essay called “Going to the Movies” by Susan Allen Toth 1980. In this essay she writes about what type of experiences she has with four different friends when she goes to the movies with them. Also, another essay I have read recently is called “A Century of Cinema” 1995…

On average, most Americans go out to public places to eat and for activities. Majority might agree that public outings are no longer as pleasant of an experience. Going to the movies is becoming one of the less appealing outings for the general public. Movie goers alike can see that reasons such as, overly disruptive teens, obnoxious gabbers, and uncontrolled theaters are to blame for the decline of enjoyment and satisfaction at the movies.…

It is clear that going to movie theaters is expensive and there is no way to get around it other than just not going. According to the article “Is It Ever Okay to Sneak Food Into a Theater” “The price of food in movie theaters tends to be unconscionably, irrationally…
The benefits of having staggered movie times on multiple screens is that it provides a steady flow of customers into the theatre to purchase food and drinks before the movie starts. If the movie theatres had all the movies starting at the same time, the concession stand would be a stand still while the movies were playing, and suffer an overwhelming amount of people before the movie starts (Economics of the). The staggered times with multiple screens allows the concession stands to have fewer employees but with a steady flow. A second reason for having staggering times helps keep the food fresh, instead of preparing it and having it go stale (Economics of the).…

I, personally, hate going to the movies. The prices are always more expensive every time I go. When I was in middle school I could go for around 8$, and now it’s more in the 15-20 dollar range. All to sit in a theater for 2ish hours and stare silently at a screen, something I could easily (and would prefer to) do at home. The only time I have gone to movies in the past few years are with family and friends, as a group activity. The cultural idea of seeing a movie is so culturally ingrained that people actually will spend 20$ on a movie ticket . Movie theaters are probably one of the few remaining “push” innovations, along with magazines and newspapers. You have to show up at a certain time, to a certain selection of movies, and pay by the movie. Movies are highly advertised (although I am told that LA had way more movie advertising than other US cities, which I had never really noticed since I’ve lived here my whole life) and an extremely money-based business. The movies produced by big names and companies are so different from independently made movies, especially in artisitc value. The movie industry is so highly commercialized that maybe we balance it out by seeing the films in something as old-fashioned as a theater. Seeing the movie in a theater also allows you to be one of the first to watch it (except for…
The movies are a great way to pass some time and escape reality for a couple of hours. People like movies for all sorts of different reasons. Movies usually come out each week on Friday night and on average three to four movies come out a week. That comes out to over two hundred movies a year and that is just mainstream film. One of the decisions people have to make is what movies to watch. The paper will discuss what the writer likes to watch, what he finds enjoyable, and what he does not. There is also the choice to watch in the theater or rent and watch at home. The first choice is more immersive and on a bigger screen while the second choice is less expensive and more intimate.…
