Gold Lion Symbolism

The gold lions represent England and the red lion represents the Arms of Scotland. England included so many of them on their coat of arms to show that they are in charge and the most important. The fleur-de-lis represents France and is featured on the Coat of Arms of British rulers to represent their claim to France. The Irish harp symbolizes the Arms of Ireland and is featured on the Coat of Arms because it is in the third quarter and under England’s rule. The unicorn represents Scotland. The rulers would use a unicorn to support their shield to show strength and courage because at the time, it was said that it was almost impossible to catch and tame a unicorn. In mediaeval times, the unicorn was considered very threatening if free. It is
