For Americans this period was one that put America on track to its status of one of the biggest superpowers. America was thriving more than it had ever with an abundance of technological advancements, trade, and jobs. However, I don’t think this “Good War” was “justified” because it resulted in the death of millions of lives on both sides but I do believe the war was necessary for America to succeed as a country. I think that if another World War didn’t occur that America would have failed as a country and would most likely had the government overthrown because of its declining state of affairs and the economy. On the topic of America’s use of atomic bombs during the war and its relation to this being a “Good War” for America I believe that this alone was one of the biggest negative aspects of the war overall and for America. It killed millions and hurt America’s reputation and relation with their soon to be ally Japan. Another negative aspect to come out of the war was the disillusionment of Americans during the time. With The Great Depression’s end many Americans could care less about the war overseas. All they knew was that they had now been employed, had money, and were doing better than ever before. With America now booming from trade and the work force it seemed that America was a prime example of what a successful nation could become. Much like Germany before the start of the First World War. Many Americans didn’t know about the struggles overseas or didn’t care about them because they were not better off than ever before which obscured many Americans realities of the war and what was occurring. One of the biggest things to come out of the War was the music, movie, publishing and fashion industry
