Goodbye... You Were the Best Thing I Ever Had
GOODBYE... YOU WERE THE BEST THING I EVER HAD
I walk my feet on the lovely shore
As I watch the strong waves that everyone adores
I feel the cool wind brush against my face
Yet... To my bereaved heart it fails to solace
All that’s left with me are memories
GOODBYE... You were the best thing I ever had

I lay & tuck myself in bed at night
As I keep the moon & stars in sight
Wonderful how they won’t leave each other
And I keep wishing you were the moon, and I, the star
Together we'd shine
Together we'd fade and leave the sky
But all that’s left with me are wishes
GOODBYE.. You were the best thing I ever had

I see the sun rises from the east
It brightens the leaves of the swaying trees
It causes the world to glow anew
Yet... It fails to save me from misery
As I continue to lose myself from this depressing scenery
Cause all that’s left with me are regrets
GOODBYE.. you were the best thing I ever had

I watch the rain falls from above
I feel the coldness from outside
And the heaviness from within
My eyes begin to fill with tears
Cause your face I’d never see
Your voice I’d never hear
All that’s left with me are sorrows
GOODBYE.. you were the best thing I ever had

How am I supposed to move on?
When this world reminds me of you
This life made me believe in three things
I only knew of LOVE, FATE, and DEATH...

It was fate that brought you to me

It was death that took you away

It was love that won’t make me forget and make you live in me forever...

GOODBYE... you were the best thing I ever

The image of you is still painted in my mind like a canvas painting hung in an art gallery. You bought so much joy to me that day and I will always remember you because of this. Not to mention that you always lived up to your promise of coming to see me, no matter the circumstances. The sound of your voice during every visit was enough to bring a smile to my face and to cheer me up in a circumstance which this would not have been possible…

There were many fine, powerful memoirs published about the First World War, and Robert Graves' “Good-Bye to All That” is considered to be one of the most honest and insightful. Based on “ Triste La Guerre”, the descriptions of battle are horrifying, and the descriptions of military bungling and pomposity are darkly amusing. The book was published in 1929, it is hugely effective in describing the everyday dangers Graves faced, how death was always minutes away and how it was inevitable that after each attack most would die. It was about Graves’ depictions of trench life, of the incompetence of the staff giving orders, and of the behavior of soldiers when off active duty and billeted in French towns behind the front lines. Otherwise, there are a lot of differences between the companies, with some being classed as more honorable, or luckier, or more disastrous than others due to the nature or provenance of the men drafted into them. The contrast between trench life in the morning and smoking and drinking in the requisitioned drawing room of a French chateau in the afternoon was also fascinating; for weeks soldiers could live in these grandiose surroundings, queuing up at brothels, buying trinkets from village shops to send home to their families and sleeping in luxurious feather beds, before receiving their marching orders and being thrust back into the muddy, stinking, corpse-strewn trenches in time for dinner. Like Graves, many seemed to accept the fact that they probably wouldn’t make it home alive, and while for some the fear and horror was crippling, for most it just seemed to be a case of grit your teeth and get on with it. Graves’ matter-of-fact descriptions of his friends ‘going over the top’ only to be mown down with machine guns in front of his eyes demonstrates how horror became normality, and the sound of guns and screams nothing but the equivalent of the constant hum of traffic those of us who live in cities barely notice. Graves never really recovered…

In comparing the Beatles song “In My Life” and “the Embrace” by Mark Doty, they are both written with so much emotion. The tone is sad and somewhat hopeful. The main theme in the song and in the poem is their love. They both talk about losing a loved one. When reading the poem and song to some extent everyone can understand or relate to the situations. Some are hopeful to have just a brief moment with their loved one, whether it is a dream or just reminiscing about the places and memories of them. Even though the two are three decades apart the message is the same. A lost love is irreplaceable and indelible. Love of any kind holds on persons heart and emotion. Both writers display a lot of emotion. The love that they speak of is a pure image of love. In both the song and poem it talks about love and loss. In both it is hard for the writer to remember their loved ones. They may even feel guilty for forgetting memories or certain features of this person or objects. But like a dream or a certain song those memories of that person or object will always bring you back to the day you were with that…

MI ULTIMO ADIOS/MY FINAL FAREWELL Mi Ultimo Adios or My Final Farewell is a poem written by our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal on the eve of his execution on Dec. 30, 1896. When Jose Rizal walked from his prison to the place of his execution, he not only walked proudly for himself, but he planted the seeds of pride for his people. His last words written in his cell “My Final Farewell” were an enduring life giving breath from a man who was about to breath no more. The poem was Jose Rizal’s goodbyes, first to his country, to his family, friends and loved ones. To his country he said in his poem “With gladness I give you my Life, sad and repressed; And were it more brilliant, more fresh and at its best, I would still give it to you for your welfare at most. On the fields of battle, in the fury of fight, others give you their lives without pain or hesitancy, the place does not matter; it is the same if asked by home and Country.” His love of country all started when he was still young, when he saw the martyrdom of the GOMBURZA and promised to himself that he would dedicate himself to avenge someday for those victims. His dreams were to see his country in eminent liberation, free from sorrow and grief. It is his desire to dedicate his life for his country. He had no regrets on what he have done and its consequence that he mentioned with his lines, “I’ll go where there are no slaves, tyrants or hangmen and where faith does not kill and where God alone does reign.” And he also mentioned in her poem that he is going to a place where God rules over and that he is thankful that he now may rest from the wearisome day of his life and repeats in the last line of his poem that “In death there is rest”. But Rizal also had little concern that someday his grave will be someday forgotten and describes the image of his grave being forgotten someday and reminds us to remember why he died – for the redemption of the country. And he said that “If you hear the sounds of…
