This case incident is about Google and diversity. More specifically, gender diversity or gender discrimination. Here's why. According to the story, Google has created their own search category when it comes to seeking employees. The name of this category is called smart creative. Google has developed a series of questions that places prospective candidates in this category. Google states that these smart creatives are a new breed and the key to their success. However, it is important to note that 70% of Google's overall staff are males. When broken down into categories, 83% represents engineering, 79% represents management, and 97% represents executives. Google claims that all their previous diversity efforts have failed and that they are in the process of implementing a new one (Robbins & Judge, 2017, p. 66).

Some of these reasons may be because of past practice, lack of qualifications, strategy, etc. When it comes to past practice, it's just something that they are used to doing and no one has put a stop to it. There has been no change to their policies and procedures. As far as the lack of qualifications, one must remember that Google has created their own special candidate category called smart creative. It could be that most men are falling into this category. In the case incident, Google mentioned that this new category that they have created is the reason they are successful.
