Once upon a time on the beautiful island of Hawaii, there were people everywhere on resort Namaste. It was a nice and peaceful place, light windy breeze, cool pretty blue water, children playing on the beach and people just relaxing on this nice Thursday. There were other resorts on the island, but Namaste was everyone’s favorite resort. The resort owner, Jack Nelson did everything in his power to make sure his guest was pleased while they stayed at the resort, so his resort could retain the title as the best resort of Hawaii islands. He also had an advantage as to why his resort was the best resort in Hawaii, it’s because he had a lot of friends and favorite guests and they always put the good word in for him. He also had some people who weren’t too fond of him and they tried everything in their power to destroy his business such as…

In the book Siddhartha by Herman Hesse eastern precepts are well described, giving us a good understanding of their religion. He leads his main character Siddhartha through a journey to find inner enlightenment within the teachings of Buddhism. Grown from a high-class family, Siddhartha decides to leave town in order to find his way in life. But it didn’t take long for him to come across challenges that he would have to now face on his own. He visits the Buddha along his journey and finds that even the Buddha himself does not have the answer that Siddhartha was looking for, so he moves on. He ends up being with a river man after his talk with the Buddha and tries to find peace with nature just as the Buddha had told him to do. Herman Hesse shows the precepts of the Buddhist through Siddhartha well enough that western readers will have a better understanding of their teachings.…
In the sculpture, Buddha with Wall by Rachel Harrison, a Buddha is carved with plastic and has a wooden wall learning against him. In Patrick by Oliver Herring, the sculpture is of a model sitting on a stool. Harrison’s and Herring’s sculptures are similar when discussing size and orientation because they are both life-sized. However, they are different when it comes to the detailing and viewing of the sculptures because of the orientation, the space surrounding the sculptures, and the materials used to create each sculpture. For example, Herring uses digital e-prints and foam, while Harrison uses Portland cement and plastic to create her sculpture. Herring creates open space between the arms, legs, and toes of his sculpture, but Harrison’s…
Daoism is a philosophical theory developed by Lao-tzu advocating a simple honest life and noninterference with the course of natural events. There are some images that come to mind when one thinks of Daoism, such as simplicity, nature, and harmony. When I think of Daoism I think of Winnie the pooh, Ying Yang, and the painting of the 3 sages. These images are the epitome of Daoism, and replicates what Daoism is all about.…
The city of Dilmun in the Sumerian mythological was described as a paradise garden where no one got sick or died; it was the garden of immortality. Boulay (1990) stated,“Dilmun was a land intimately associated with Sumer and Akkad, and just like Meluhha (Africa) and Magan (Egypt) supplied their cities with many economic necessities either through tribute or by commercial exchange. Dilmun was also a sacred or holy land often called the residence of the gods, a sort of garden of Eden, often referred to as "the land of the living," that is, the land of immortality” ( THE FABLED LAND OF DILMUN).…

Nirvana is what a Buddhist reaches when they have reached a reales from the cycle of rebirths that plagues us all. I believe the term extinction is supposed to be about blowing out the 3 fires which consist of passion, hate and ignorance. once all three fires are unlit than one can reach a state of Nirvana and end their…
Buddhists have a very influential belief of the afterlife which most religions view as blasphemy, and a direct defiance of their religious ideology. Buddhists believe in reincarnation. This is the belief that after death the human soul lives on in a different form, and this form is determined by the choices they make during the previous life. Apart from returning either as a human or animal, hell and many stages of heaven can also be reached depending on the karma received during a lifetime. That is not to say that there is no final resting place, Buddha taught about ‘nirvana’ (not the band). Nirvana is a place of perfect tranquility; it is to the Buddhists what heaven is to Christians. However unlike in Christianity, nirvana is thought as…

My mandala’s symbols have been strategically placed so that each ties in with the others. I placed my symbol of Brahman on the top, in the center, because he is every single thing, other gods, souls, plants everything in the universe. I placed my multiple gods symbol next to the Brahman symbol because all gods are part of Brahman. I placed my Dharma symbol to the left, underneath the Brahman symbol. I placed it there because dharma is the path of multiple lives, and Brahman is the creator of this cycle. Next to the dharma, I placed the Samsara symbol. Samsara is the cycle, and your supposed to escape it by following your dharma. Karma is next to Samsara because what you do affects your next life, and if you don’t do the right thing,…
Holiness is very important to pursue as a follower of Jesus Christ. After reading the book by Jerry Bridges; "The Pursuit Of Holiness", I was able to connect my own understanding of being holy, with the idea that the author has about holiness, and compare it all with what the scripture says about pursuing a holy life. There are many great main ideas and lessons that Jerry writes about, and his book has allowed me to grow spiritually in new ways that I have never been introduced to.…
