The media has affected the 21st century teenagers
Most parents instill the value of self-respect in their child at an early age, only to let the media drain it out of them. The parents who see what such media is doing to their child will attempt to fix it as soon as it occur. The media is everywhere and preys upon teens. A teenager is easily influenced by another teen let along half of the world. It’s not as if the teen don’t know those things will lower his or her self-respect. It’s not easy for a teenage girl to her favorite celebrity getting attention because of her revealing clothes, it’s never easy for a teenage guy to look on Facebook to see all of the people he look up to constantly post pictures throwing up gang signs, I’m sure it wouldn’t be easy listening to the radio and songs talk about easing your mind with drugs and alcohol. I’m certain that it wouldn’t be every song, social network or television show that’s steering teens wrong, but I’m convinced that most of them are persuading actions that will lower teens self-respect It has been studied that social networks has a huge effect on teenagers (niemer 120). While a majority of teens claim that social networks are "mostly kind," 88 percent have said they've witnessed cruel behavior on these sites, according to a new Pew report. Teen are commonly introduced to social networks to do things they wouldn’t normally do. I remember girls in my grade getting on websites to produce explicit pictures of them to find “a man” who are usually over age. Some teens try to tamper with other peoples respect, but lower their own in the process. The media didn’t encourage this but they don’t stop it either.

Gotell 2 Music genres as in Rap R&&B and country, all contain songs that play a part in teenager’s self-respect. He or she would consider that the lyrics in the song is requiring them to wear

Social-networks can cause harm to others especially when not knowing how to use them the correct way. Internet sites such as Facebook and MySpace make it easier for predators to stalk or catch their next victim. Marcia Clemmitt argues, “But as Internet socializing grows, so do fears that the practice exposes the vulnerable – especially young people – to sexual predators” (627). Marcia explicates that teenager’s lives are put in danger as the social web sites increase. A website like MySpace is dangerous to the youth because some do not know how to keep their life private. Some teenagers enjoy posting personal information online without knowing that they are at risk of being molested. Young people should be careful with what they post or share…

In our society as individuals Social Media, Television, and movies has changed in how we interact in our everyday lives. This new technology has a changed our American cultures many of the ways, today we do not follow the traditional and proper ethics we once lived by. It has also had a huge impact on the way we communicate with others; Facebook and Twitter have become the communication outlets for our society. Facebook has three ways it is possible to share your information: friends only, friends of friends, or everyone (Albanesius, 2010). This establishes what type if privacy you prefer when an individual want to view your profile (Albanesius, 2010). Although it has caused our younger generation to display content that is unethical. In order to identify the adverse effects that according to researchers, online social networking sites have, I have compiled some specific questions that will be addressed in the research that I will conduct and will guide me to reach to a solid conclusion. These questions include, (1) what is the relationship that teenagers have created with the social networking sites? (2) What is the impact of social networking sites on the social life of human beings? (3) The extent to which social networking sites can be dangerous or harmful. These questions are supposed to be examined in the research paper in order to derive a meaning to it and to evaluate the importance the topic has. However, the research has been conducted in the passage of two weeks and the bibliography is comprised of at least six references that completely belong to journal articles.…

Teenagers are the most misunderstood people on the planet. They are treated like children and expected to act like adults. The media makes teenagers out to be disobedient, disrespectful, sleazy people with no regard to anyone but themselves. They make it look like we think of nothing but parties, alcohol and sex. Everyone knows the majority of teenagers in society today are nothing like anyone you see on TV. It makes me sick that I can't turn on the TV without being insulted by the "ideal" image the media tries to send out to teens. All it does is lower people's self-esteem and self-worth.…

Premature sexuality is a widespread problem in the United States. According to Ray Eldon Hiebert, (n.d.) “The United States has the highest rate of teenage pregnancies, teenage birth, and teenage abortion of any industrialized nation” (p. 1). The average teenager deals with the media all day long, they wake up listening to the radio and talk with friends about what happened on the previous days episode of their favorite program. Once they get home from school, they are flipping channels, surfing the internet or reading the latest issue of their favorite magazine. This brings to mind a quote I read by Larry D.…

As media, technology, and culture continue to evolve, the Internet expands with unlimited access to everything: from music to news, and lots of scandal. People everywhere have the ability to post whatever they want online. This challenges widely shared values because the Internet contains a wide and vast database of information and media. This sometimes leads people to believe in different values than they are meant to believe. As children, we grow up to be obedient, use proper language, and we are taught that drinking and drugs are bad. Then, we become teenagers, who become surrounded by media that we did not understand as children. Media that evolve to idolize people who do drugs, drink, dance inappropriately, and have sexual intercourse. This challenges the values our parents or guardians taught us because we are lead to believe that this is how we should act. The producers of this type of media abuse the freedom of the Internet and they spread though social media, such as…

However the kids today are faced with much deeper problems such as growing up to fast and self esteem issues. Take Autumn Edows for example. How many articles, songs, movies and news stories have you seen or read that demonise teens? Now how many have you seen that praise and honour teens? The second question would be hard to answer because of how common it is for the media to ‘shame’ teenagers. After exploring several styles and examples of adolescents in the media, I have concluded that the way teenagers are represented is unfair and inaccurate.…
