Gotta get into college somehow
Everyone has that life story that basically defines the person they are. For some it's how inspirational their parents/guardian/role models are, or some struggle through life that made them into the person they are today. I wouldn't exactly say my story is about my struggle through life, even though I did, but more of my learning experience. Growing up as a kid I realized that you can get through life one of two ways, either watch other people suffer through their bad choices and suffer along with them or you can learn from their mistakes and think of ways you can improve them so they don't feel like they're burdening you. My dad wasn't always the greatest; he lived his life with regrets, and spent more time wishing he had made better choices instead of fixing the ones he wronged. From that I learned that you live life with no regrets because at some point you wanted it, and even if the decisions made previously were not the best you can fix it. My mom tried so hard to be that typical mother who could give her kids whatever they wanted, but how can you give your kids the materialistic things they want when you're not even home to give them what they need? Your love. From this I learned don't get lost in giving others what they want, and overlooking what they need. Sometimes all you need to do is give someone the time of day to know you care, and that will be enough. Since both my parents worked a lot my grandma was left taking care of me. I remember sitting on the couch with her watching general hospital and seeing the doctors on TV, thinking that job was the coolest job ever. Of course doctors on general hospital didn't really portray what a doctor does, but that's where my original inspiration started. I told my grandma I wanted to be a doctor, and I wanted to save lives. She told me that if I could dream it with a little hard work my dream could be real. My grandma left around 3rd grade, but that didn't stop me from working towards my dreams. I learned a new lesson when she left. When someone leaves you feel pain and a sense of abandonment, but if you throw all of that pain into something else it can work to your advantage. I noticed that if I kept myself busy the pain would disappear for a bit. I was so sad and school was my only escape. Research was my new best friend, and good grades kept me smiling. Around middle school I realized that I was not working so hard to accomplish my dreams, but to grab someone's attention. I wanted my parents attention, my grandma's attention, pretty much anyone so school wasn't my only friend. I learned that no matter how hard I tried I probably wasn't going to get the attention I wanted, and from that point on my hard work was towards accomplishing my dreams. Being a neonatal nurse was what I aimed for. I wanted to be able to help people, and enjoy my job that I worked so hard to attain. I wanted to give out the love that I wasn't given. My only dream is to show others kindness, and be there for them in their time of need. Everyone deserves to feel loved, and there's no better place to show that feeling than through the medical field. Maybe after I graduate from nursing school I can sit down on the couch with my grandma, and watch General Hospital to remind myself of my childhood inspiration. To remind myself of every lesson I've learned through life, and to prepare myself for the many more to come.

My parents are always willing to teach their four children a lesson. Most of the time they only have to teach my brothers a lesson because my sister and I are angels! That statement may not be true, but in my mind it is. My parents also think you’re never too old to learn new lessons, even to this day. Whenever I do something stupid that results in me getting hurt, my dad always reminds me that “education is expensive”.…

Throughout my life I have been faced with many different challenges that has helped me become the person that I am today. My life started out pretty simple. There are two instances in my life that has inspired me to gain interest in medicine. My grandmother when I was around the age of twelve received double bypass surgery and I fell in love with the physician who took care of her. The physician was a middle aged woman who was one of the kindest person I have ever met, and she gave us the news of how everything went fine during surgery. She also gave us great confidence in how my grandmother would return to normal soon. The look on my parents and aunts face when she gave the news gave me goosebumps and to this day I feel the same goosebumps when I think about this. I just wanted to one day be in a position to deliver good news to a family and to see that “look” of relief on their faces. Another…

Children are influenced relatively easily, and these influences can sometimes lead to a desire for a future career. As a child, I spent a good two and a half weeks in hospitals with a very low hemoglobin and an unknown cause for vomiting blood. During these weeks I met surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and specifically Gastroenterologists. Every day that I was in the hospital I fell in love with the idea of becoming a surgeon.…

My journey started 16 years ago right after I graduated high school. In the beginning, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but I knew I was fascinated with science and medicine. In the first part of my journey I attended Community College of Philadelphia. When I got to college I had no idea which way to go or what steps to even begin to take. So I took a few classes here and there while I contemplated a career goal. After taking an anatomy and physiology course I knew that I wanted to become a physician. When I first began Community College of Philadelphia I was immature and didn’t see the importance of doing my best. My grades weren’t too great but when I realized my goal, I knew I had to buckle down and really show the determination and commitment I was capable of. On the second part of my journey, I was lead to Temple University. I knew that this was the time to stay focused and make sure I did the best I could do and more. Temple was my second chance. While attending Temple I learned many valuable life lessons. Not only did temple help shape me into a mature and well-rounded woman but it also helped me achieve the tools required to have a successful future.…

One of many important roles that my mom plays in my life is that of a teacher and counselor. She has taught, and still teaches, about life and anything right and wrong in the world. An example would be that no matter how complicated something can get, never give up and walk away after the first try. Dale Carnegie, a famous writer and lecturer, once said; “Most of the things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” (Walter 1) Another would be just because you see someone do something that seems bad, but does not get in trouble, do not…

My Dad, the lover, the tough guy, always loves to hang out with my brother and I. So on the trip to Hawaii, he didn’t only teach me how to boogie board and paddle board, he also taught me to appreciate the good things because they aren’t always going to be there. Like the poem of Robert Frost “Nothing Gold can stay.” That’s the kind of thing that brought me and my dad closer; he turned a paddle board/boogie board lesson into a life lesson.…
