Government: The Role Of Democracy In The United States

A democratic government has various major roles. A government is required to draft legislation that the people can vote on. It is also needed to organize systems to meet the needs and wants of the citizens. In addition, it is imperative to kill the laws that are put into place, since the people do not have the capability to enforce legislation. Furthermore, a government can create a military that recruits, trains, and deploys soldiers, while one person could not ever pull off such an incredible task. Most importantly, the main purpose of government in a democracy is to protect the rights of the people. The Declaration of Independence states that all people have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We, the citizens of the United States are able to enjoy these rights. Therefore, a government's role in democracy entails passing and enforcing legislation, creating systems and organizations to support the people, and performing other tasks in order to ultimately protect and support the rights of the citizens. In a democracy, the people hold political power. The system lets people choose their leaders through a competitive process and hold them liable for their policies and actions in public
Where there are no homeless on our streets, the poor and needy are cared for, where there is equal opportunities, and where the color of our skin does not control social status and hierarchy. In relation to the questions asked above a just society is pretty much being described, with the main purpose of government in a democracy being to protect our rights, and the people (us) hold all political powers by electing our own representatives. The Just Society will be a united Canada, united because all of its citizens will be heavily involved in the development of a country where equality of opportunity is certain and individuals are allowed to fulfill themselves in the way they judge
