Gps & gsm based Tracking
GPS BASED VEHICLE TRACKING

ABSTRACT

In this Project it is proposed to design an embedded system which is used for tracking and positioning of any vehicle by using Global Positioning Syste
(GPS) and Global system for mobile communication (GSM).

In this project P89V51RD2 microcontroller is used for interfacing to various hardware peripherals. The current design is an embedded application, which will continuously monitor a moving Vehicle and report the status of the Vehicle on demand. For doing so an P89V51RD2 microcontroller is interfaced serially to a GSM Modem and GPS Receiver. A GSM modem is used to send the position (Latitude and Longitude) of the vehicle from a remote place. The GPS modem will continuously give the data i.e. the latitude and longitude indicating the position of the vehicle. The GPS modem gives many parameters as the output, but only the NMEA data coming out is read and displayed on to the LCD. The same data is sent to the mobile at the other end from where the position of the vehicle is demanded. An EEPROM is used to store the mobile number.

The hardware interfaces to microcontroller are LCD display, GSM modem and GPS Receiver. The design uses RS-232 protocol for serial communication between the modems and the microcontroller. A serial driver IC is used for converting TTL voltage levels to RS-232 voltage levels.

When the request by user is sent to the number at the modem, the system automatically sends a return reply to that mobile indicating the position of the vehicle in terms of latitude and longitude.

Global positioning systems have been fully operational since April 27, 1995. GPS have become widely used worldwide, and a useful tool for map making, land surviving, commerce, scientific uses, tracking and surveillance, and hobbies such as geocaching. Also, the precise time reference is used in many applications including the scientific study of earthquakes and as a required time synchronization method for cellular network protocols .(2) Geographers find GPS to be particularly useful in coding the precise location of objects. That information can later be enters as a layer in geographic information systems. (2)…

Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter reveals his humorous tone when describing Governor Bellingham by using religious figures. Hawthorne first establishes the idea that Governor Bellingham is slothful because of his wardrobe choice. Bellingham is in “a loose gown and easy cap,” which contrasts with the impression that he is a person who has a life based on austerity because he is the Governor. He later compares Bellingham to John The Baptist because of Bellingham’s shirt by saying, “His head to look not a little like that of John the Baptist in a charger.” John the Baptist was beheaded and had his head served on a charger which shows Hawthorne’s comparison John and Bellingham in a dark, yet…

There are 114 million devices worldwide and that number is only expected to grow more. The immediate threat to this market is factory-placed navigation systems incorporated with new vehicles. Individuals are also using their mobiles as a PND. Mobile towers can triangulate their position. Smartphones can use mobile towers and GPS satellites for a location. The market for PNDs is still growing where campers, hunters and hikers are concerned. They depend almost entirely on GPS satellites.…

GPS satellites go round the earth twice a day in a fixed orbit and broadcast signal information to earth. GPS receivers obtain this information then utilize triangulation to gauge the user 's exact location. Fundamentally, the GPS receiver system contrasts the exact time a signal was transmitted by a satellite with the exact time it was received (Diggelen 55). The difference in time tells the GPS receiver how distant the satellite is. Now, with distance dimensions from additional satellites, the receiver is able to establish the user 's location and exhibit it on the unit 's electronic chart. A GPS receiver should be locked on to the signal of not less than three satellites to work out a 2D location (latitude and longitude) and path movement. With at least four or additional satellites in view, the receiver can resolve the user 's 3D location (altitude, longitude and latitude). Once…

This sub-system links all the other sub-systems to form the main system. Two power supply units were used to supply the system with power; one for a 12V fan coming from the mains and another for the Raspberry Pi. The main device used in this sub-system for controlling the other devices was the Raspberry Pi. All codes for image processing and audio processing were stored on a microSD card inserted into the Raspberry Pi. A static IP address was set for it which enabled communication with the mobile application through a local Apache server. The GSM/GPRS Module was programmed to send ‘AT’ commands which were used for sending the SMS and locating the device.…

As a matter of fact, considerable changes have been introduced in the GPS based vehicle tracking systems over the past few years. Though new models of GPS vehicle tracking systems soon increased accuracy and precision, the GPS trackers sometimes fail in the task. Researchers therefore is focused further on the development of error-free and cost effective models, which can transmit the data as accurately as possible and henceforth it can be analysed by the fleet management software.…

GRPS-Based Distributed Home-Monitoring Using Internet-Based Geographical Information System A. R. Al-Ali, Imran A. Zualkernan, Assia Lasfer, Alaa Chreide, and Hadel Abu Ouda Abstract — Recent developments in publically available webbased Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and the availability of low-cost integrated General Packet Radio Service (GPRS)/Global Positioning Systems (GPS) modem have enabled the development of embedded stand-alone home monitoring systems. This paper presents the design, implementation and testing of a home-monitoring system that utilizes online Map from a GIS in conjunction with the readily available public satellite-based GPS, and GPRS mobile networks. In addition to detecting intruders, the system allows a home owner to remotely monitor various critical home sensors status including those tied to fire, flooding, and gas leaks.…
