Introduction
The objective of the report is to analyse the trade relationship between U.S. and Russia over a 5 year period ending 2010.
Definition of Russia E.T.F. An exchange-traded fund that invests in Russian stocks either through local stocks directly or via American depository receipts (A.D.Rs) and global depository receipts listed on U.S. and European exchanges. Russia E.T.F. seek to replicate broad market Russian averages; invested assets may represent a high portion of the net market capitalization of all publicly traded Russian stocks.
In 2010 Russia ranked 23rd among the United State major single-country trading partners, accounting for 1.0 percent of two U.S. two way merchandize trade (exports plus imports).
Commodities in the past decade have seen a huge influx of capital for speculative short-term trading and long-term investment. Investors at the end of 2009 had a record $277 billion invested in commodity exchange-traded products and other securities linked to commodities, which was 50 times the 5.5 billion level seen a decade earlier, according to Barclays Capital.
Traders for years have speculated in the commodity future markets; however the future markets are not for investors with a modest-sized investment nest-egg and are not well suited to a long-term investment strategy due to the need to roll over expiring future contracts. Exchange-traded product(E.T.P), on the other hand, generally have no leverage and are therefore a much less risky way to play the commodity markets.
