Graduation Speech: Another Shooting In A Community College
Hi,

Thank you for the mail, and for the mousepads and card - it's nice!

Another shooting in a community college in Oregon state on the news tonight. I really hesitate to advocate study abroad in the US anymore.

Terrible flooding and another hurricane on the east coast too. I'm so thankful that I sold my parents' Florida house and bought the Hawaii one. I'm sorry for the people who are there.

Today I put new fabric on the twin beds' headboards. I'm tired!

Imagine… you are getting all dressed up for that big day. You get anxious and scared because it’s the graduation for eighth grade. You get all dressed up and put on your gown and cap. Then you arrive at the school. You sit in the assigned seat and watch the children before you get up and shake hands. You feel your hands get clammy as you wait. You wait till you hear your name and realize that it’s your time to shine. You stand up and hear the creaking of the harwood on your shoes. Then you feel your hands and wipe them down, but when you get up there you shine like a supernova. Everyone's eyes are on you. You realize that it’s your time to show who you are and time to reflect on your legacy here. A legacy is what you leave behind for people…

After watching the film, Shackleton’s Antarctic Adventure, it felt as if I just watched a film based on a fiction novel. To watch the continuous efforts of one man putting everything he had into keeping his men safe, healthy, and alive was almost implausible. Earnest Shackleton’s accomplishments, especially during the time he did it, will stand the test of time. It was his tremendous leadership skills which aided him with the success of not only reaching safety, but keeping 27 men content enough to continue to want to follow him.…

April 20, 1999- Columbine high school shooting, July 20, 2012- Colorado movie theater massacre, December 14, 2012- sandy hook massacre, these are all examples of real life massacres that have been the cause of many innocent lives throughout the years. These are also examples of reasons on why the prohibition of rated M videogames has been such a controversial topic. My aunt went to grocery shopping last week and someone slashed her tires. Does that mean that she should no longer go grocery shopping? It’s really absurd isn’t it? Well believe it or not it’s the same thing that is happening with rated M videogames. Ever since the Columbine shooting in 1999, the people and government have tried to ban these video games. They believe that the violent…

Sadly, America today is not what we had hoped for what we want our future to be. More deaths and destructive incidents have occurred over race. No one is able to walk the streets safely without being questioned or afraid for their lives. The people of color live in fear each and every day of their lives because of the color of their skin. There is no one that we are able to trust our lives, justice, and freedom with. Whereas white people have nothing to fear because they have never felt this way before and will never face this barrier the vast majority of America has faced. They have someone they can trust, be protected by, and live their full rights in having freedom. In return minorities have received this delusion of the ever promised freedom for which we originally came for. America is this way because of how we are brought up in the world. It begins with our family and how they perceive race then it is taught to us…

In the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, Steinbeck uses descriptive language and diction to explain Crook’s room. After reading the two paragraphs explaining Crooks’s room, a reader can infer that Crooks is caring, lonely and informed about his rights. Crooks’s room is described as “a little shed” with many personal possessions.” Furthermore, unlike the other men on the ranch he has books which consist of “a tattered dictionary and a mauled copy of the California civil code for 1905” and medicine for the horses.…
