Graphical Analysis Lab Report
The purpose of the lab was to construct a graph of sugar content versus density for 5 sugar solutions and to determine the sugar content of the 5 beverages using graphical analysis. The hypothesis was that if a beverage has more sugar, then it will be more dense.
The results of the lab included the densities of all the solutions and beverages, which was then graphed. Then, using the graph, the sugar content for the beverages was determined and a rank of the beverages was created. From lowest sugar content to highest sugar content, the rank of the beverages was diet cola, powerade, cola and grape juice (they have the same density so they also have the same sugar content), and grape soda. It can be understood from the results that diet cola

Introduction: This experiment was conducted to determine the amount of sugar in a can of Coke and to and use a calibration curve. 5 different solutions were made, each containing 100mL of water and between 1 and 7 grams of sugar. The calibration curve was used to determine the sugar in the can of Coke. The measurements used are grams and milliliters. The calibration curve is used to determine the grams of sugar just by using the density of the can of Coke. In this experiment the main equation was density = mass / volume.…

    - Each liquid that was used in Part I has its own independent density. Density being the relationship between the mass and volume of a substance. In this portion of the lab we explored relative density, each liquid compared to the others. The corn syrup was the most dense, in comparison to the other liquids. Whereas the vegetable oil was the least dense compared to the other liquids. The liquids in between followed this same principle in their respective orders.…

Part 3: I used the scale to determine the molecular weight then calculated the volume of the sugar using the flask. With the information gathered I used this to calculate molarity. Next I dissolved the sugar in the water and took the mass and found density. I used this to calculate concentration of both solutions.…

Each substance was observed inside their containers and the hypotheses were based on these observations. The volumes of each substance was then measured inside their containers. Each substance was then weighed and density calculated. After, each substance was observed under magnifying glass, smelled and touched to determine texture. Lastly, each substance was tested for solubility.…

Introduction: Today scientists put acquired data into a form of a graph. This said graph is designed to help make predictions and furthermore, study and understand the experiment and its contents at hand. The Graphing and Estimating lab involves just that. The lab is designed to collect data from several tests involving burn time of a candle.…

For this project, I compared the sugar content of equal serving sizes of 10 various breakfast cereals. Since serving sizes varied from brand to brand, the results were computed based on a serving size equal to 50 grams. The sugar content per 50 gram serving size was computed by using the following formula:…

The item was made for a Prince Saif al-Dunya wa’l-Din ibn Muhammad al-Mawardi, it is both decorative and functional as an incense burner. The item represents Zoomorphic incense burner, which was popular during the Seljuq period. This lion-shaped example is exceptional for its monumental scale, the refinement of its engraved ornament, and the wealth of information provided by the Arabic calligraphic bands inscribed on its body.1 The lion-shaped item stands upright in an almost bowing position, with both ears pointed upward and tongue sticking out slightly in front of the teeth.…

The concentration of sugars in two well-known sports drinks, Powerade and Gatorade, were determined by monitoring an enzyme-catalysed reaction sequence involving the appearance of NADPH. Sucrose and glucose concentrations were calculated from the concentration of NADPH formed by the reaction of glucose-6-phosphate and NADP+. Spectrophotometric absorbance readings were taken at 340nm, this is because NADPH absorbs strongly at this wavelength, whilst NADP+ does not (1015MSC, 2010). The concentration of glucose and sucrose in Powerade was found to be 0.43g/100mL and 7.36g/100mL, whereas the concentration of glucose and sucrose in Gatorade was found to be 0.94g/100mL and 7.09g/100mL respectively.…

    Density of Sprite

In chemistry, accuracy and precision are very important. Accuracy is the degree of conformity of a literature value and precision is a degree to which further calculated values show similar result. In this lab, the volume of the solution (diet or regular) is measured using the Pipette, Burette, and Graduated Cylinder respectively. The mass of the solution is then measured to calculate the density of the soda. Density is mass of a substance per unit volume2. How heavy the substance is according to its size or volume. The volume of liquid is measured in mL and mass in grams. Since, the density of water is 1g/cm3 ; therefore Diet Sprite's density should be equal to or a little bit more then water. The hypothesis was that regular Sprite will have higher density because it has a higher sugar concentration present which increases the mass per volume ratio of the solution. In this experiment only regular Sprite was used. The results are then compared to another group which calculated the density of Diet Sprite.…

The objective of this macromolecules lab was to identify the presence any of the major macromolecules in various every day food items. The three macromolecules that this lab was carried out for were carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. There were five different experiments conducted and each of those experiments had one factor in common, they all had the same controls. The controls in this lab activity were already set for the lab activity. The controls were the distilled water and the baking soda solution. These controls were certainly crucial to the lab because they were the basis to what the results of each experiment should have been. Distilled water was an effective control because it is made of H2O molecules therefore it is impossible for it to contain any of the macromolecules. Baking soda is a control because it is made of…

overconsumption of energy and thus may contribute to the global sugar epidemic. This epidemic can lead to a different epidemic such as chronic disease. In addition, sugar provides only “empty calories”, potentially leading to nutrient inadequacy, which can lead to corresponding health consequences. There are many sugar substitutes that can be used and the most recent one that came into the news spotlight is stevia. Of course as with all sugar products and its substitutes there are problems. The controversy with sugar comes into play when people try to figure out where to draw the line with sugar and how to substitute it because it is in almost all products. This paper identifies the safety issue as well as the role in weight control with sugar…

We started setting up our experiment by measuring different molar solutions (0M, 0.25M, 0.5M, 0.75M and 1M) of sugar and putting them into separate bottles, along with one bag (12g) of yeast and 300ml of water. We then attached a tube going from the top of each bottle to separate test tubes which were entirely full of water and were placed upside down in a tub of water, stopping the tube from emptying and…
