1.Grated potential can spatially and temporally summate. They have no minimum level required to initiate. They also begin at the dendrites and travel at the cell body. Simply grated potentials detrimental. The strength of the stimulus effect the change in the grated potential.
Action potential so not summate in space and time. Action potentials are not detrimental. Action potentials either happen or they don’t (this is a all or none process). A threshold must be hit for a action potential to take place. Axon hillock is where it occurs.
2. Voltage gated sodium channels are going to remain closed, therefore another action potential will not be able to fire because the cell cannot depolarize. During this time the voltage gated potassium channels
