Imagine having a dream, after you have came up with your dream my next question is what would you be willing to do to make sure it happens? Would you even lie if it came down to it? In “The Great Gatsby” a man by the name of gatsby was trying to reach his dreams when multiple times they were abruptly interrupted in more ways than one. Is it wrong to not want somebody because they are “broke?” In chapter 6 we found out that Gatsby wasn't …show more content…
always rich, he worked as a custodian and traveled around a lot with his best friend Dan Cody to that Barbary Coast and The West Indies. Another way that we found out how Gatsby’s dream was interrupted was when he had found out that Daisy had already been married to someone else by the name of Tom (chapter 1 page 7). Tom attended oxford college and had acquired many trophies and had jacked muscles, he also played for the oxford football team. Tom Got his money from his parents. When Tom and Daisy had gotten married they had a baby by the name of “lil T.”
Secondly Have you ever heard of The American Dream?
The American dream consists of a mother, a father, two children and possibly a pet. One example of the American dream is Tom and daisy, I say this because they were the only ones in story who had a child, and money. (Chapter 1) at the same time the are not really an american dream because tom was an abusive cheating husband to Daisy Because let's face it, nobody wants to be in an abusive relationship where they are under appreciated. Another reason why tom and daisy are the american dream is because when they had all went away Tom and Gatsby ended up getting into an argument. Daisy still ended up choosing to side with tom because that's when she found out that Gatsby wasn't really whom he has been telling everybody that he is (chapter
8)
After that on the way home from the hotel, A car accident had taken place (hit and run) Myrtle had gotten hit by a yellow car (chapter 8). But nobody knows that daisy was driving. This interrupted Gatsby's goals because he had gotten too generous for a girl he loved who did not love him back. He had decided to take the blame for daisy which ended up being a terrible decision and a terrible outcome. In spite of the decision he made of this entire situation Gatsby was not able to accomplish his dream of being with the girl of his dreams of being with Daisy.
In conclusion i ask again, what would you be willing to do to make sure that your American Dream comes true? By all means try your best to make sure your dreams come true but makre sure that the decisions that you make are the right ones.
