Theatre has been impacting our lives for over 2000 years now. It is one of the oldest sources of art and entertainment to us. The word theatre came from the Greek word “theatron” which means “seeing place”. Theatre as entertainment has been improving a lot in terms of subject matter, performing style and feedback from the audiences. A theatre could be intricate structure in decoration, functionality and class but the only requirement of theatre is an empty place where actors can act and people can watch. Old comedy was produced in the first period of the ancient Greek comedy. This type was comedy was produced at Athens in early 5th century. Middle comedy was produced in the second period of ancient Greek comedy; middle comedy represents a development from the old comedy and New comedy was the last period of ancient Greek comedy which was ended in 260 BC. In short Greek comedy might not sound very religious but back in days it was most up to date branch of Greek religion. Greek invented the most intense form of theatre called tragedy. The Tragedy form of theatre was known to be very agonizingly serious. Tragedy was the perfect example in which a being had some sort of flaw which gave them a characteristic regardless of weather they were human or god which gave them an attribute which gave them the flaw of being human. Meaning the human tend to make mistakes they are not perfect. The third form of ancient Greek theatre is satyr. Satyr plays are one of the oldest kind of plays.
