As he continues on with his new insect body, he also finds that there are more changes that are to come. Samsa then tries to talk to both his father and his sister, and he realizes that not only his body changed to an insect form, but his voice has now changed too as well. As his boss comes to his house to check on Gregor, he is appalled at what he finds. People and visitors eventually pass through Gregor’s home, only to be afraid of what they find, and eventually Gregor’s family grows tired of hiding Gregor away from society as well as guests. The family eventually keeps Gregor away by having him only live in his bedroom. As time goes on, Gregor the giant insect dies. When he dies, his entire family has felt as if a giant burden has been lifted off of their shoulders. He sees how much energy his family puts into him just because of his newfound situation. Gregor does his best to adjust to his new ways of life by learning more about himself, and also about his new form of outward appearance. Gregor not only looks back on himself and his new insect body, but he reflects also on his family relationship, as well as realizing how both him and his parents have now drifted further apart than before, as opposed to him and his sister’s relationship, which remains a strong bond no matter the situation. Gregor changes some of his habits as a repercussion to how he sees his family working hardly to maintain his life. In an effort to not be so much of a burden, Gregor devises a plan so his family does not have to do so much for him. In part two of the Metamorphosis, Gregor is misunderstood with the situation of trying to keep the picture of the woman in his room. As he covers it, the mother arrives in his room and is terrified at what she sees. She faints from seeing Gregor on the wall, and his sister tells the father that he broke out, but the father misinterprets this and believes that Gregor has tried attacking his wife.
