This correspondence is a very important question that I often ask myself. As I look around our community and around the world, I ask myself, how can Gd if he is all powerful create such a divide between the healthy and the sick and the rich and poor? I have been fortunate enough to travel within our own country as well as abroad. When I see the divide not just in the United States but also in other countries I realize that it a global issue. Suffering is a global issue that all communities, cities, states, countries, and contents have.

While this response is convincing to me I also believe that it cannot be the sole reason for why suffering exists. Irrevocable freedom to me means that one can do as they wish with their freedom. This is the same response that Gregory uses when he is explaining the reason why the world is full of suffering to his father. I believe the strengths of Boyds response is that it is a very broad response and that it can be up to interpretation. One weakness of Gregorys response is that it cannot explain everything. For instance there are people who are born in to countries where there is dictatorship or poverty and they have no choice but to conform or be killed. I struggle with this question all the time. Throughout my life, as I have gotten older I often ask myself why my grandfather was taken so early or why I never got to meet my grandmother. When I traveled to Israel I had the opportunity to go to Yad Vashem. Yad Vashem is a Holocaust memorial center located in Jerusalem. Growing up in a Jewish home and attending Hebrew School I have been to many different Holocaust memorial centers but none were quite the same as Yad Vashem. I left there with chills running down my back thinking, if we have such an amazing Gd, why and how did he let this happen to people who did nothing
