Relationships are fragile bonds that many factors can influence deeply especially according to someone’s perspective. In the short story “Gregory” by Panos Ioannides the relationship between Gregory and the narrator are affected tremendously by the three factors; sacrifice, time and betrayal. In war it takes some type of sacrifice to survive. This concept plays a big role in the lives of the two men in the story. The narrator does not want to kill Gregory because he is a friend to Gregory and thinks it is inhumane. But he is stuck between his morals and job. The narrator knows “if he [dares], … they’ll drag [him] to court martial and then bang bang” (Gregory, P.155) which will ruin him. Due to this, the narrator does not go against his seniors,
