Gregory Palamas Research Paper

Gregory Palamas was a late 13th/early 14th century man who wrote on the power of prayer. He argued that the “incarnation of Christ had made direct knowledge of God possible through human experience of both mind and body” (pg 402). He says that our bodies are temples for the Holy Spirit, who lives in us. Like John of Damascus, Gregory believes that the human body is not innately evil. People are to purify their body through prayer, rejecting all that impedes likeness with God.
