a. At first, it seemed as if one disgruntled employee was plotting revenge when in actuality it was a cover up. The supervisors and operators tried to cover up their own mistake by planning out a cover up on someone else to make it seem like that’s where the problem was. I think blame should equally be done to all of them.
I feel that there are many different people and parties that are responsible for the Bhopal accident. The factory itself had a series of criminal violations that were not due to negligence. ”The UCIL was sitting on a powder keg and was such the disaster waiting to happen.” (2) The government was also to blame for a few things. The government has let this big company build right in a big populated area knowing that the gas had a harmful effect. (1) The government also did not have a known evacuation route planned. The government also allowed factory regulations to be broken, and did not follow through with routine checks to make sure protocol was being enforced.
I also feel that the employees also had a part in this accident. The employees just by themselves have duties to report accidents and mistakes. Employees knew of the unsafe work conditions, and how safety measures were not being taking. It makes you sit back and think do you believe that it could not have been employee sabotage? In the end, to me I feel that DOW has a responsibility to the people. No matter when DOW came into the picture, I feel it is there job to help fix the company that ended so many lives.
