According to Bryden and Roy (2005), they did the study to examine the influences of handedness and sex differences in manual dexterity performances on the Grooved Pegboard Test. In this experiment, their participants were tested individually and the time is counted to measure their speed in placing the pegs. Besides that, according to Buffington, …show more content…
A stopwatch was used to record time taken for completing each trial as to note the time of completion for each trial, paper and pen as to record the experimental data. After 4th, 8th and 12th trial, the participants were asked to rate the following statements which were ‘that was easy’, ‘that was painful’, and ‘i was comfortable in that position’ on a 5 point-scale (1= strongly disagree, 2 = disagree, 3 = neutral, 4 = agree and 5 = strongly agree) pen was used by the participants to answer the questions that measure their fatigue (Sharma, 2012, …show more content…
All the participants identified as right handedness and the researcher explained the concept of manual dexterity and body posture and in what posture they should be during performing the task by showing the picture of body postures mentioned. No sugar consumption at least 1 hour before the experiment and not fasting for participants on that day. The participants will be divided into three categories of postures which fifteen participants need to stand upright, fifteen participants need to sit on a chair and another fifteen participants need to stand bent at the waist. Furthermore, the participants were asked to maintain the posture for 30 seconds before proceeding with the grooved pegboard test for the first time. The time is measured for inserting of all pegs (insertion time) and the researcher were removed of all the pegs. There should be a 30 second gap for the insertion time where the participants can take a rest or change their body posture for a while before proceeding next trial. Besides that, the researcher were also counting the number of any pegs dropped during the task. The insertion trials were done in 12 trials for each task and participants. Besides that, after the 4th, 8th and 12th trial, the participants were asked to rate the following statements which were ‘that was easy’, ‘that was painful’, and ‘I was
