Being thrown in jail is a lot worse than being grounded. The person that is being grounded only has to deal with minor consequences for a short period of time, a couple months at most. The person that has been put in jail must deal with other possibly dangerous inmates, lack of privacy, less than adequate living arrangements, and mediocre food to eat. The amount of jail can also be substantially more, depending on the crime committed, the person could be sent to a maximum security prison and never let out all. Human interaction when being grounded can be affected, but not to the extent that the person in jail is succumbed to.To sum it all up, being grounded is temporary with limited consequences, being put in jail can last a lot longer with far worse consequences.
In conclusion, both subjects of being grounded and being put in jail have both similarities and differences. Both can be seen as a negative offense, an offense that everyone in said situation wants out of as soon as possible. Many kids think that being grounded is one of the worse things that can happen to them, without knowing that being put in jail is far worse and should be avoided at all costs.
