To be sure, no lesson provides an authenticity and durability as that gained through first-hand experience. However, if the world's destiny hinged upon the inevitability of personal experience learned through tangible performance, there would undoubtedly be a continuous recycling of mistakes, misadventures, and catastrophes throughout history. As a result, societal advancement would be limited to the knowledge gained and exercised in a lifetime. Imagine every generation being left to repeat essentially the same process in a perpetual state of affairs. In the 1993 movie Groundhog Day, the protagonist (Bill Murray) had to repeat the same day over again, scores of times, in order to gain enough information to break out of an inexplicable cycle…

Groundhog Day is a very interesting and entertaining movie about a meteorologist who becomes trapped in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. It stars the hysterical Bill Murray as Phil Connors, a sarcastic Philadelphia weatherman who is far too full of himself. He travels with the entourage of cameraman Larry, Chris Elliott, and his lust interest Rita, played by Andie MacDowell. Phil lives through the same day, Groundhog's day, repeatedly with no consequences. Each time around he does things a bit differently, yet little is changed. Strangely enough, the movie applies to what we are learning in religion class.…

7. In what ways, according to Shaheen, does the “reel” representation of Arabs affect our understanding of the Arab world in “real” life?…
Often times movies, along with entertaining us, set out to teach us lessons. This seems to be the case with the classic movie "Groundhog Day." With a quick glance it may seem as though this movie is nothing more than your typical romantic comedy. While on one level, Groundhog Day does fit that description, it also functions on a much deeper level. Throughout the strange and twisted events of the film, questions about God, life, death, kindness, and what it means to be human are frequently raised. These questions are also frequently raised by humans of all beliefs. It is this papers aim to examine how this movie deals with these questions of ultimate concern based on the teachings of Buddhism. In order to do that this paper will first examine how understanding one's self plays a role in Phil's never ending day. Then it will look at how Phil is able to reincarnate himself to become a better person and how this leads to his own nirvana.…
The movie starts with a text saying: Boston some years ago. That let us know where we are. The first shot is a fight, the camera is very unstable. That makes it all more chaotic. We get different shots of what’s going on, the police, the bus with a broken window, a black man speaking. I feel like the cameraman takes us around, and we kind of get in the middle of it all. I believe this is a demonstration from the 60’ies for/against the black people or something.…

Today is certainly a day of joy for us, but on this celebration of independence we also feel pain in our hearts because our families and ancestors had to face devastation. Lebanon was once torn by attacks and invasions from countries and it was once crying from pain and war. We have witnessed bloodshed, a lot of people died and suffered, a lot of people were separated from their families, and lots of tears were shed. Despite this suffering, the Lebanese found solace in getting our independence. So we stand here today to celebrate this golden day in our country. This day is celebrated on a very large scale just to tell our young generation about the value of Independence Day when we can live together without any fear or conflicts. We as Lebanese citizens, have to thank our freedom fighters and Lebanese soldiers for their sacrifices. We all have to appreciate their tough mission, because if it hadn’t been for them, we wouldn’t be here today. Thank You.…
