Abstract In current time, the explosion in social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, Yahoo and Twitter is widely regarded as an exciting opportunity, especially for youths. Since internet is everywhere, geography distance becomes less serious problem than before in our life. That reduces the actual distance between people to people and also helps them to expand their horizon to experience new cultures. However, the public response tends to have some problems because of having little sense of privacy and many latent risks such as scram, sexualities. This article explores the practices of social networking in order to uncover the subtle connections between online opportunities and risks.
Social Networking Sites Opportunities and Risks
According to Social Network Statistics (researched in January 2014), the online social networks have emerged, as a result it has the new way in which people connect socially. Obviously, Facebook is the leader of social networking with over 1.2 billion users in globally. “Figures from the Pew Research Center show that 67 percent of online adults in the United States now use social networking sites with Facebook the most popular while the latest figures show over half of the British have a Facebook account” (REUTERS). Consequently, web-based social networking services can possibly help people to interpret, share their interests and activities across political, economic, and geographic borders.
Social networking sites are any website that enables users to create public profiles within that website and form relationships with whom access their profiles in the same network. Its users can create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other contents. Social
