As there are a number of stages involving a group, my main focus will be on the “performing” stage, by it being informative, conversational, and interactive. This Healthy Life/Health Self group would begin after introductions, recap, and goals focus is stated, as being an informative part of on its topic for the session on what the topic is about, issues involved, solutions, and other relevant information on the topic of discussion with information provided. Then, I want to hear the perspective of the members on what they learned, and how it relates to them. I aim to have each perspective heard, and for each member to provide each member their feedback and/or solution on assisting each other with their personal struggle. Based on the topic that is of focus for each session, there will be an interactive portion/time where the members would display their change outcome, along with the help of the members, if needed. This is where the group and its members will hit the “storming” stage that can affect their behavior and progress when in their group sessions. This can happen when member’s dominance plays a role, lack of engagement, lost of interest in group, and other conflicting issues that can disrupt the process of psycho-education, group support, and achievement of goals. If my group cohesion is threatened, I will redirect my group back to their goals, and the focus of what each session is about. The intervention modalities in the previous section would also be use for each member to become aware of their thoughts, behavior, and actions displayed in their group. As to what is display by the any of the members, I would assist them with coming up with solutions to change their cognitive and actions towards expressing it in a more positive and productive way for themselves and others.
