up and say something. I rationalized this moment that I placed my guilt on the group leaders being that if anybody had the responsibility it should have been the group leaders. The result of my reluctance resulted in a friend being hurt further then when she should have been. This ate me up and I wanted to reach out to her then again, I knew she was surrounded by good people, therefore, I did not want to add to the issue and make her feel ashamed by causing her to feel singled out more then she should have been. Plus, a thought came to my mind, that a professor spoke to this explaining that individuals like similar to this one can feel ashamed and not want to return to the group being that they feel that they shared too much. The other insight I noticed was that at this point in my training I was beginning to feel confident in my abilities and my willingness to speak out and this experience was a great shot of reality for me.
I understand that I can never know everything and be prepared for everything is a false manner in thinking. My main goal after this experience would be that I learn as much as possibly knowing that my education never ends. Furthermore, that the only thing I can control is genuinely being there fore my clients and others who give me the gift of trust. Two interventions that were used that I enjoyed was the checking in phase of the session is incredibly helpful in that everyone must speak, and the conversations can derive from a person weekly worries. The other intervention is that linking of group members issues and the group members feeling comfortable to discuss with each other enabling the other group member a chance to engage and discuss
themselves. The two alternate techniques that I would address is that ten minutes before the session ends I would announce that an explain to the group that are time is ending if anyone would life to comment on how the group progressed this evening. This can halt any knew emotional experiences from being spoken of and ca serve as an evaluation of every session for the group leader. The other technique I would implement is more a rule, statement, or the authority of the group leader to be shared with the group members that they are in charge and are the only people that are allowed to interfere with a session to give an exercise and in essence take control of the group. Hopefully, this will cease what happened this session and will decrease the group think and the group dynamic that is well-known that people in a group need someone to disrupt the thought that since, there is other people experiencing this then someone else will step up. This technique gives the leaders, the permission to interrupt and the group members will not feel offended if they were the one who was cutoff.
