A loving, caring environment will encourage a child to socialise and develop good relationships with others. Poor housing, overcrowding, air, water, and noise pollution all have a detrimental effect on a child’s growth and development.…
Life gives no one the chance to choose where they come from. That includes the town they were born in. However, depending on the child’s parents, the city they grow up in can be constantly changing. There are advantages and disadvantages to moving around a lot. One advantage would be the chance to be introduced to new surroundings. On the other hand, the person moving would be least likely to become attached to certain activities, clubs, friends, etc. Moving around also, does not mean they have to leave the city. They could be moving to a different neighborhood within the town. For example, when I was younger I used to live in town Grand Mound, Iowa. When I was around six years old, my family moved right outside…
Parents are really taken for granted by a lot of kids. We have no idea how much they do for us, or love us, until we are all grown up with kids of our own. In the novel, The Road, by Cormac McCarthy I saw a theme of paternal love. Every parent loves their child but I think that if you are trying to keep your child and yourself alive it is a whole new type of bond with each other. Some examples of paternal love are the things the father says to his son.…
I have been living in the City of Springfield since the mid 1980’s. It is not a secret that we have been experiencing an increase in youth related violence. The Springfield Police even has a gang task force. What we do not have is enough people willing to give young people a “second” chance. However, we do not give them a first chance to begin with. We do not support any positive youth development programs that allow participants the time and space to plan activities of interest, problem solve, and develop leadership skills. Anything that is youth driven makes adults uncomfortable and highly suspicious. We lack strong young leaders because we want nothing to do with giving them a chance to develop those skills in a safe encouraging environment.…
As growing up in the inner city of Chicago, I experience traveling from one area to another just to go grocery shopping. It is hard for famers market to open up, it seems to never stay open. But the fast food places seem to thrive among the community. The food truck idea would be a good way to end the unhealthy food habits by delivering fresh food, vegetable, and fruits to multiple neighborhoods.…

Housing and community: There can be a negative affect on children’s development if they have poor quality housing or cramped conditions. My experience growing up in a small town was the fact that we all were safe in our elite community. What I enjoy most was running outside in the rain a small the dust from our unpaved roads, and playing hop scotch. We loved to play our games; such as: softball, red rover, Simon says, and a lot others. Walking the streets you could smell the different aromas of food cooking from each house. One of my favorite meals was moms’ fried chicken, homemade biscuits and baked apples.…
There are many children in life who have to move to a new town during their childhood. While there may be those few children that get the privilege of not moving, most others have to move at least once in their child hood. Some children even have to move two, three, and sometimes more. When a child has to move from the town that he grew up in, it has many effects on his or her life. These effects can greatly change a child and it can make a child feel like he doesn’t fit in. It can also make one have a hard time making new friends, especially at a younger age. Although, many times parents do not have much of a choice in the matter, they should really think about these effects on a child before they make the decision to move when their children are still, well, children.…
Growing up in the big city offers a person great opportunities educationally, socially, and helps prepare them for their furute better then small rural towns do. Children in big cities get much better educations and are offered more AP courses to further their college education before they even begin college. Big cities also offer childrent the social aspects of life needed for a child to feel happy. They make more friends in a bigger city and bigger school, they have many more things to do on weekends (getting teenagers out of trouble many times) and they also develop the relationships needed to feel whole inside in the big city. The big city also helps prepare a child for their future by preparing their education, their…
