A quote from a world renowned psychology professor, Carol Dweck states that, “The brain is like a muscle. Your brain gets stronger when you embrace challenges.” A good mindset can spawn from many different aspects. Also, a good mindset can definitively determine success. There are numerous amounts of mindsets, but there are two types of mindsets that stick out like a sore thumb. The first mindset is a growth mindset. A growth mindset has a numberless amount of definitions. Furthermore, every person with a growth mindset uses a form of grit. Meanwhile a fixed mindset takes their failures and sets that as their standard of success. To begin, a growth mindset takes failure and turns it into success. In fact, I have learned from my failures and have used different strategies to succeed. To illustrate my point, I failed my English 11a class during my junior year due to my procrastination. But, the following year, I had to retake English 11a. I was so fired up to pass that class. In fact, the first assignment that the class received was a one paragraph explanation on how I use growth mindset. I sat down at my computer and started to type with tenacity. I was typing extremely fast and fluently. In the end, I finished my paragraph fairly quickly, and it was an above average paragraph as well. On the contrary, a fixed mindset will continue to fall further, and further into the pit failure. For instance, someone with a fixed mindset will undoubtedly fail due to their inability to learn from their mistakes and change for the better.
