An article from boston.com, “Obama orders Guantanamo Bay closed, bans torture,” states, “The military-run prison camp at the US Navy base in Cuba, where about 245 terrorism suspects are being detained, has become a symbol of the Bush administration 's policies and a magnet for critics who say (Gitmo) violates human rights.” When the detainees were in Iraq or Afghanistan they had no human rights, they were forced to to what they were told, think what they were told and if they didn’t they would be killed( according to many Taliban research articles). At Guantanamo they are fed, they have a roof over their head and they most likely get more free time then they ever had before. Also from boston.com, Retired Admiral Dennis Blair said that Guantanamo should be closed because it’s, "a damaging symbol to the world." This is a small symbol compared to all the pain these terrorists have done to not only the United States but to the world. I understand that they think it’s a bad symbol but so is all the bombing planes, suicide bombers and the ink jet bomb on cargo jets.
Terrorism has killed so many people that the government deemed to be able to have an accurate number of the dead to be impossible.
