Materials: 6 lamps; one piece each of black, white, red, green, blue and yellow construction paper; 6 thermometers, stopwatch Procedures: 1) Using a thermometer, take the temperature at your station. 2) Place the thermometer on the counter. 3) Plug in or turn on the lamp. 4) Place lamp so that it is shining directly on the thermometer. 5) Place the colored construction paper on top of the thermometer. 6) Wait three minutes, remove the construction paper and take the temperature reading. 7) Place the construction paper back on top of the thermometer. 8) Take the temperature every three minutes until you get to 15 minutes. 9) Record the data in your data table. Data: Time (min) | Black Temp. (℃) | Blue Temp. (℃) | Green Temp. (℃) | Red Temp. (℃) | White Temp. (℃) | Yellow Temp. Start off by weighing two paracetamol tablets using some accurate scales. Record the mass down (1.15g). This had to be as accurate and precise as we could get it so we had the correct weight to start the experiment. Without this then the results we found at the end would not be accurate. A problem that could be faced with this is that the scales may not have been fully set to zero. Also it takes time for it to fully reach its weight on the reading so you may move them too quick before the right weight has been set.…

As the substance heats up, the electrons gain energy from the flame to move to a higher level of energy. At this higher energy level, the electrons become unstable and start to come back down to the “ground state” (lower energy levels). As this happens, the electrons in the substance release a certain amount of energy, which we see as a color…

    a. Trichromatic Theory: Perception of color occurs through three kinds of cones; short wavelength (blue), medium-wavelength (green), and long-wavelength (red). Each cone responds to colors, but some respond stronger to certain colors. For instance, the long-wavelength cones respond best to reds. Intense light increases the brightness of the color, but it does not change the color itself.…
