Heat Absorption Lab Problem: Does color affect heat absorption? Research: Some colors reflect light and heat energy. Other colors absorb light and heat energy. Hypothesis: If I place black, white, red, green, blue and yellow paper under a lamp, then __________ paper will absorb the most heat. (what color?) Materials: 6 lamps; one piece each of black, white, red, green, blue and yellow construction paper; 6 thermometers, stopwatch Procedures: 1) Using a thermometer, take the temperature at your station. 2) Place the thermometer on the counter. 3) Plug in or turn on the lamp. 4) Place lamp so that it is shining directly on the thermometer. 5) Place the colored construction paper on top of the thermometer. 6) Wait three minutes, remove the construction paper and take the temperature reading. 7) Place the construction paper back on top of the thermometer. 8) Take the temperature every three minutes until you get to 15 minutes. 9) Record the data in your data table. Data: Time (min) | Black Temp. (℃) | Blue Temp. (℃) | Green Temp. (℃) | Red Temp. (℃) | White Temp. (℃) | Yellow Temp. (℃) | 0 | 20 | 19 | 20 | 21 | 20 | 19 | 3 | 25 | 21 | 21 | 21 | 20 | 20 | 6 | 27 | 24 | 21 | 23 | 21 | 20 | 9 | 31 | 25 | 23 | 24 | 21 | 21 | 12 | 35 | 26 | 24 | 24 | 21 | 21 | 15 | 39 | 27 | 25 | 24 | 22 | 22 | Conclusion: My hypothesis was __________________ because _____________ absorbs the most heat energy. (correct or incorrect) (which color) What you need to complete: 1) Write the problem in your ISN. 2) Write the hypothesis in your ISN and fill in the blanks. 3) Draw
